makes me wonder how some one can just run a saw that dirty and not look after it , poor saw

I'm sure it had not run in years. The piston started to score, but the rings are still free, and compression is VG.

Cleaned it up, replace the oil cap, changed the fuel, and did a full tune up and I'm surprised how well it runs. I thought for sure I would have to rebuild the carb or something, but no. Used it just the other day.

One thing I will say for these Ranchers, they just keep on running. This one came in with a hole in the fuel line and a scored top end. Put a high hour used but not scored piston and cylinder on, replaced the fuel line and she lit right off and ran acceptably well. Checked compression after test fire and it is a little low. Now that I know it will run I will order a new Meteor piston for it.

I got most of my EZ saws running now I have about a half dozen Poulan saws that need some attention. Also I put an engine on my riding lawn mower to replace the one that I put a hole in. I'll remember to check the oil from now on..
I guess I still have one Super EZ to get going, had the dreaded blue coil..

Next to my bench at the shop, Oregon
Got this little guy back together last night. Had a pressure leak through the oil tank vent. Disassembled the saw and replaced the crankcase gasket and crank seals. Also cleaned it up real good. Replaced all the lines and went through the carb and she runs like a top! New bar as well. Bout $100 into this one. Biggest expense was the bar. Make a good little saw for ma gal. 003.JPG 004.JPG

Utah, unfortunately.....
So far today, a 660 for a carb rebuild, and a 575XP for a new top end.
Finished off my day with a MS170 that was run with brake on, got it fixed up, then I cleaned up, and disassembled a 266SE, (waiting on a fuel line, and kit), and the last saw was a MS250 that only needed a proper service.

Ol' Dirty Hippie Jon pretty good with identifying them saws. If it wasn't for HOME then it starts to fade, on the recoil...I'd a guessed Maytag or Kenmore. Lol.

Ain't never heard of that model Homie. What are the yrs it was made?

Hahaha! "Maytag or Kenmore". They do in fact look like an old time washing machine.

When I went to check the plug I found it was original! Don't think this saw has ever been apart. 155 PSI compression!
That's almost unbelievable, and great news for you. That compression is what they are rated at brand new I believe. It would be great to see some more of this saw, maybe a thread on it.

Joe,
Any thought to just replacing the piston rings?
