Have this 056 super tore apart. Bad top end. Luckily Adam sent me a p and c with it. It's been cleaned up (which I'd say cleaned up VERY well). I'll post a picture when's she's back together and testing passed.

Goes to show ya you can never judge a saw by the covers. This saw looks close to brand new now. Probably cleaned 30 years of crud off.

I just tore one down tonight and it did not have one I just got the other one running tonight and it did not have one

yes there should be a shield behind the MS440, the 044 did not initially have shields, all the 1128 series got them when the OSHA and EPA regs made the mufflers so stuffed up they were getting the cylinders too hot

I have one with a plastic tag that has a shield and a metal tag that doesn't have one.

Both of mine are metal tags 1 is 10 millimeter and one is a 12 millimeter should I put it back together without one

if you have a dual port or triple port muff cover you likely don't need one regardless
they are available aftermarket now too which is nice

Your gonna want a 56 mag jug for that saw.
