Tough to work on saws when they have multiple problems and your time is so darn limited (15 min here, 15 there, etc). But, I got one of the 460s finished today, started and idled and reeved/responded well. Needed a dog, broken bolt fixed, chain catch, sprocket replaced, limiters pulled, muff modded, clutch bearing lubed and drum cleaned, new clutch washer and clip, and clutch cover & bar bolts ... IT'S DONE!!!!

Need to finish up one more 460 that runs well but needs nonsense stuff, then pull apart the crushed saw and see if anything is still good!

I've done dozens of em w/o any problem, but I can't get the clip out of the clutch on that darn 460, and the sprocket needs to be replaced! Driving me crazy! I usually use a screw driver to remove the clip, but the washer on this one is preventing it from coming out. Any tips anyone has would be appreciated!

And we are getting snow on top of snow for the first time this year, my gosh, it almost feels like winter!

They can certainly be a real PIA, especially if the chain brake is not released. I fought one for a half hour recently until I released the brake, letting the drum float just that little bit, enough to give the washer and clip a little wiggle room.

Spent a little time with some saws and some friends in the last couple of days.
I have really gotten behind and buried with saws again, I really gotta get rid of some (but I like them so much).

Saws in my shop this weekend - felt like I got stuff accomplished :)

Rupley Husqvarna 65 alky race saw - tabled until weather is warmer, apparently alky saws hate sub freezing temps :), will need a carb kit and fuel lines, gave it a quick once over and it has a factory alky carb.

Copsey MS441 race saw - put her in a cant and made big grinning faces at each other, repeatedly

Stock all original red lever, west german badge, KS 10mm, nice metal tag 044 - changed the air filter insert, chain catcher, vent tube, fuel filter, ran it in the big log buried and it loved it.

Mofo MS260 - monkeyed around a bit with trying to make a quick and easy way to mount velocity stacks that doesn't lay the filter on the rear handle, baby steps so far, mine has a custom elbow that Mike @Canadian farm boy built which is beautiful but cant be an easy thing to do or to mass produce :), I ended up with a lot of husky elbows and my mind started moving.

Rupley 394/395 race saw - rebuild carb, new lines and filter, monkeyed with the linkage which somehow isn't as smooth as before the carb rebuild. starts and runs and sounds great, but the rear bar stud spun in the case mounting the bar and chain so I wasn't able to run it in the cant and also cant get the clutch cover off. grrrrr

Rupley Poulan Pro 475 - I didnt do much of anything but it got a carb kit, new lines and filter and after some tinkering with the intake and carb mounting it runs really well, it got dialed in and was impressive.

Not much in the way of pics or videos, but alot of workin' and BSing was done for sure.

A lot of other saws showed up for another day as well as more shelving for parts.

Picked up the newly released 20" Stihl light bar for my mmws 036. I also got my first square ground chain from @Icepick69 to go with it. He's great guy to deal with answered all my questions and set me up with an assortment of files to try out. View attachment 55186

I would like to know the weight of that bar, and the cost.

image.jpeg Completed a 357xp for a tree guy, muffler bolt broke off in cylinder, and muffler was hanging loose. Scored piston. Put a new meteor in it, sanded minor carbon transfer in cylinder. Got lucky and used vise grips to lock on end of broken bolt and slowly twist it out. Few odds and ends and she runs great set at 13,800rpm, compression is rising as well, much better than before. Might jb weld rear spring mount as it was run loose for years and stripped out plastic hole badly in tank and is too far gone to helicoil, spike mount is stripped as well. At least she runs good and cuts fast.
