Wish I took a before pic but here's that 026 cylinder all cleaned up. Being that it was straight gassed it had a lot of transfer.

Also if you don't have one consider getting one of these lights. They're super bright and great for sticking inside a cylinder for inspecting.

I got pretty deep inside this 6000. It was leaking bar oil all along the seam.

I loctited and re-torqued all the bolts to clean that up. 20170130_024941.jpg

There were these seam edges that were cracked and raised, looking like they were ready to break loose so I broke em loose.20170130_014837.jpg 20170130_014910.jpg

Then after one peek at these transfers I knew it was time to get the felling axe and wedge out to do a little work on em. 20170130_225054.jpg

It wasn't totally dry but there was a suspicious lack of an oil film.

I flushed the crankcase with straight gas before I split it, trying to see how much debris came out.
I get everything from the old 16/1 guys sticking rings to i swear i put the whole bottle in with the 5 gallons of gas when they put one
2 1/2 Instead of two.
I'm sure you hear it more than me.

Finally got around to adding a vice to my basement workbench. Garage is unheated so it's too cold to do much out there. Didn't want to drill/screw into the top so I clamped it. Then spent a few hours with a file.

Now I just need to make a home made chain vice insert.
