Is non-chainsaw related stuff allowed in here? I know how you guys like to stay in topic ;)

I went shopping for a bigger/better vise. I found an amazing deal and bought a Wilton 600S, having no clue how big it really was.

It had to go. I sold it and made $100 in the deal. I had to strip it diem to get the weight under 150#.

I decided to go two sizes down to a 450S, another great deal. It's still a big vise, but manageable.

Along the way, I picked up this little light duty Wilton for $10, made in the USA as well.

I also picked up this old Wilton bullet and am in that process of fixing it up.

Cool old saws, I've worked on several. Most of the time the air filter cover is on wrong. Don't know how people fug it up but I've seen it a lot.

The air filters on these echo's are terrible.
I can't hardly blow air through it so if I get the saw it will be customised

Was handed this old girl today and asked to check it out to see if it was a runner but not to spend any time working on it.

Lovely old Molbilco Echo 601

Sprayed it all with degreaser and hit it with a hose and it came up great.
Cleaned up the rusty bar and chain, put a screen on the muffler which is all rusted out and filled the fuel and oil tanks.

3 pulls and off she went.

Throttle holds the carb open a bit
Oil pump won't pump oil
Muffler rotted out and leaking in a couple spots.
Fuel cap leaks.

Other than that it's like new.

I am going to ask the owner if he will sell it to me.
I think it would go great ported with a v stack and small pod filter on one side and a pipe or one of those short Mccalloch style mufflers on the other.
It sounds great :)

On the subject of this old points driven echo, the muffler is all rotted out and thin as tin foil in places.
I am thinking of making a simple exhaust for it similar to these seen on old McCulloch saws.

I know it will be loud, but other than that, are they good or bad?

I had to do a bit today, tired of just sitting!

When they blast they really blast :D for some odd reason the c&p survided and that one will fit perfect for a 14xpg that missed c&p

Luckily, there are other saws :D:D:D This is a saw to a friend of me
New 242 Tecomec reminds me of KS:
_DSC3430.jpg

But, it is extremely much heavier compared to 242 Mahle or a Gilardoni 42 special jug, what tells me this jug will need alot work, ie, colling fin work is my simple plan!

Unlike OEM you don't go without gasket on Tecomec... My PlastiGauge go down to 0,007" and squish is under that, I may have to get a squish band cutter.

Tecomec did a better job then OEM when it comes to centering the intake, not really much to adjust there

Got the 3 freebies a while ago. the old one is on the right, working on the one on the left, awaiting seals.
The one here has new seals oem piston non-decomp 066 cylinder, and lot of scrounged parts, a pig to pull over runs great . old1.jpg new1.jpg
