How does the 291 run compared to the 290?What's the saying? Don't loan out your saws. This ms291 had one tank of mix ran through it. Then let his neighbor use it and filled it with straight gas. Saved the cylinder but not the piston. View attachment 39456View attachment 39457
I think I can salvage the cylinder but would like to see it up close and iny hands before I say for sure.Got t the jug off the 281. I believe its ruined but wanted to hear you guys opinions. And yes the owner said he stuck a screw driver down the plug hole to use as a piston stop. Dumb dumb dumbView attachment 39449
Nowadays it's just 550 who is on my floor, 13-15 models.
First time I got to see the update they did to prevent hot start issue.
14 - 15 tank

Now I want to change my older 545/550's, anyone knows what # this red plug has?
study the picture I had where you see both 14 and 15 tank and you can see that 15 or newer has no hose from the vent. Vent hose goes to airfilter holder, my teory is that Husky cut the hose due it could flood the carb if the saw was super hot.@Tor R So you're saying the plug is different? Could you explain what is different about it, I can not tell from the picture. Has me curious to know now.
no difference in part number from 2011 until today, would think they are the same, felt also the same when I tested both 14 and 15 vent.I would just plug the line there with any plug that will stay. I'm more curious about the tank vent.
Being that it's a complete redesign it's still a good reliable saw. I'm still partial to the 290,310,390 models but the new ones haven't had any problems come up yet. The engine is a little sluggish til it warms up and the new antivib makes it where you can hardly feel it running. It's still a good home owner occasional use saw. With the leaner runing engine it's does use less fuel if anyone is into that. Got her back together and off to the front line for another fight. How does the 291 run compared to the 290?
I will get the cylinder to you so you can ck it out. I found a nice oem 288 cylinder and piston so i am recommending it to him. If we can save the 281 ks jug then that will be a huge plus. Thanks Mike and everybody for all their replies.I think I can salvage the cylinder but would like to see it up close and iny hands before I say for sure.
Stick a ring in there and you will see if the bulge is present.Yes exhaust side. I cant feel a buldge in the cylinder but that doesnt mean it doesnt have a protruding place. I am also concerning about plating.

I can't see the part number om their IPL, so I will just plug the hose
dont worry, my brain hardly work nowadays due my age! Thanks Tor, I saw that but thought you had the hose off to show the plug. My pea brain could not understand eliminating just a piece of hose instead of the whole thing. So basically it now works like the old saws vented. I get it now.
I agree Randy, I would had prefered if they placed a hose mount inside the carb floor, like we had on 346 OEIt's sort of a crappy fix they did though Tor. Now there's just a vent with a nipple sticking out with nothing on it at all. What happens when it gets plugged?

Yes, they have gone back to how it was in good old 346 time, I think I will glue a hose mount on the carb floor so I can do the same vent modd as we do on 346/357.
Btw, 550/560/576 has the same vent as 346/357 etc has.

Anybody ever fooled with one of these? Worth rebuilding?View attachment 39454
you're not the only one who think the same.Sometimes I think Husqvarna is just a group of half assed folks hoping to produce a product that will only last till the warranty is up. SMFH
Is that a 2014-2015 or newer Randy ?I just tore down a 562XP with 188 hours on the clock. The crank is shot, the pin is loose in the piston, and the jug base is cracked.
188 hours.
