Iv got a 2012 -560xp on the bench in for no oil to the bar and a good going over. Its not a day in day out user saw but is owned as the main saw by a fencing contractor. He has had it from new..its got the EL 48 carb on it after the el 44 (i think) gave issues but iv had the muffler off and there is no real blow by or scoring showing..it starts /runs and performs lovely.
Shows the diversity of the way these saws ether behave or last. Odd isnt it !
PS; I know the saw is on its original top end and no major work has been done .

I will get the cylinder to you so you can ck it out. I found a nice oem 288 cylinder and piston so i am recommending it to him. If we can save the 281 ks jug then that will be a huge plus. Thanks Mike and everybody for all their replies.
You Welcome Dave.

The saw I'm looking at has been in regular use on a trimming crew. They were never kind to it......but 188 hours? I've had 044s here that have 1000s of hours on them.

Oh dont get me wrong...i agree that sort of HR count is way lower than it should be ..unless a bad event takes place or bad fuel /service discipline then these saws should be doing way better.

I just tore down a 562XP with 188 hours on the clock. The crank is shot, the pin is loose in the piston, and the jug base is cracked.

188 hours.
188 hours is nothing, but it happen.
Most of what I get as project is old waranty saws, I actually get nerveous of how long my builds will last when I see that 50% of those 550 had blown crank.
It's a shame actually, those 5xx is great saws, but if I wanted a Husky who should last I'm back on those 2xx serie to them.

I think it a strato thing. Think how small the carb is. Much of the intake air is fresh air though the starto ports.......the part that goes thru the case is much less than on a "normal" saw. That means there is less oil going thru the case too.

Combine that with the spec 50.1 ratio that..May or may not be accurately mixed....You ..could ...end up with a less tolerant style of engine .

We got a thread on the 562's and problems. Fire crew and others all fried in short order. Fire crew guy said they hated them not dependable.
