Have finally got my free Snapper ride on running good. I thad sat outside for 2-3 years,, we get 3ft of snow.
Two bad coils!! First was just dead.
Second tested good, 11hp briggs would start cold, then weird stuff would happen, some times it would take a load sometimes not, some time start warm other times not!! Very frustrating.
Third coil and all is well. Nice to have a Ma&PA place to get a $20 used coil.

Bought this one from one of my dealers a few weeks ago, figured out it was time to start up the project. Will get OE carb floor, 199 carb + airfilter&holder, OE top cover.

Without gasket (ill probleby sand off 2th of the squish band):

Done with the lowers, will smooth it out a bit more.

I got to find a way to work with the uppers, had a test jug to play with and it was damn tricky...

MS 660 Carb Help ... This is my first time inside a MS 660 carb.

The carb was rebuilt by someone else, and the saw falls on it's face when you put it in the wood.

The fuel bowl in the carb is clean (I guess no screen in the 660s?), and the carb vac tested just fine.

Is the metering lever supposed to be flush with the bottom of the bowl? (Way different that 044s). If so, it seems to be about 1/32" high, would this possibly cause this problem???

Thanks.

I vac tested the 660 I have, and it was fine. The carb came in on a second one the guy owns, so I switched carbs and it was fine, so the problem is in the carb. Now I have the bad carb & saw that needs a piston, and gotta get it all working.

Off the bench and right back on. 254xp Cheap worm gear allowed clutch to tighten onto the drum causing it to stop. Ran good right up to that point.LOL Button fell right off of decompression valve as well. Guess I will have to get OEM instead. Doh In all of two cuts I made with it, it did impress, think once the bugs are out of it, this will be one dandy of a cutter.

Nothing bench sized. D500 dump truck blowing fuel.out of the rear carb vent. Pull the bowl, how'd that float get so high? Adjust, put back on and smooth runnings. W300 winch truck no blinky blinky on the test light. Pop the cap, file the points fire up and run. Oil pressure, temp gauge work. Blown out heater core leaking all over the floor. Don't really need a heater when there's no doors. Bypass back into the water pump. Plumb the new clutch master and slave
Do a little brake work and I'll be winching logs out of the bottoms in no time.

Comments would be appreciated. I believe the screen was omitted in the rebuild, and the lever may be a bit too high. The carb model looks like a Walbro J68B, but I can't find rebuild parts for that at all.

Would the slightly high lever and missing screen cause the saw to bog in the cut? Or is it more likely it ingested some dirt with the screen missing?

Screen should be there. Lever being high will give it more fuel.
