I also have a complete rebuild lying around.
Do you really need to open up for lower transfer? The bearing cup is quite small, I would have thought it wouldn't be that bad in terms of size compared to NE and original there
With a NE jug....not so much. This is an OE top end.

Okay, OE I have too.
Thought I'd make a transparent plastic gasket to see how much I have to touch the bearing cup and the lower transfers
Just use a 346 base gasket and scribe the inside of the transfer area. Not much to it.

The Rancher is done, tore it down so I could do a thorough job of cleaning it and inspecting everything to make sure it is good to go. Starts, runs, idles, oils as it should. This is the third 455/460 that I've had in the shop in the past week or so, they are really fairly easy to take down for cleaning and inspection.

The Poulan is currently disassembled and cleaned. It is a clamshell design as well, but the crankcase bottom is a separate aluminum piece so I take the 4 screws out to remove the engine intact and use some shorter screws to keep the engine together while I clean and check everything.

I took mine all apart to clean....have taken it apart and put it back together 4 times now, finally got a chug, but I was done with it by then and put it to the side. For me its been one of the hardest saws to work on...lol

I had 4 similar models (2050 and 3 Wild Things) partly disassembled on two benches this afternoon trying to come up with a working throttle release/lock on the customer's saw. We were eventually successful.

Working on my new to me 266se husky.
Replacing av mounts, previous owner had tried a hack repair job with 2 pack glue and piece's od irrigation drip tube.
Also looking over a friend's big Solo 603 and fix a few small issues.

I never understood why people either tolerated broken A/V mounts or tried to "repair" them an a 2xx series Husky. They are readily available and are not even expensive, plus it can be a safety concern.

Frustrated me when I got the new AV mounts for my 272, they came with coarse threads, my saw needed fine threads...of course the fine threads were a lot more expensive. Super easy to change out, no reason not to have them.
