I have a Super 250 that hasn't been started in a great many years now.Added a fuel filter to the Mac 250. Hose was there but the filter material was nowhere to be found.

Starts on choke and idles for a short while.
I suspect that it may need some carb work, but I will let the fresh fuel and oil rehydrate the carb diaphragms and see what happens.
Even though the serial number suggests it should have the later carb (more square lower carb body), this one has a very circular bottom end.
Sounds pretty sweet. This is my first larger Mac.
Thanks for confirming what I had found for the carb information.Your saw has a Tillotson HL carburetor, the others have a MAC (Walbro) flat back carburetor. I think the flat backs are more responsive and run harder, but they can be more difficult to get adjusted correctly.
A late model 250 should have thin rings, they did seem to run better that the earlier thick ring models.

I’ll be curious to see how you repair that rotation collar. Weld up the worn hole and re-drill/machine?My new best friend Woodwackr made this available to me.

The package arrived last week and I was able to get it opened up today. Taking it down for a good cleaning. Has spark and the fuel tank is very clean, if I can get through the Carter carburetor without any problems I may see about getting this one to run before I hang it up in the display.
