What is your process to wash them out and prep them for reinstall?...I am willing to give that a try since it is my saw.
Dawn dish soap in hot water and go to town with a old tooth brush! I’ll sometimes dry them with a heat gun when I’m done. Make sure you inspect the bearing closely for a damaged cage or any abnormal looking wear.

Here is an update on the redmax ebz8500 that ingested probably a years worth of dirt.

Bottom end is ok. Cylinder plating has not worn through anywhere, but there is some wear on the exhaust port. It looks like someone tried to chamfer it excessively. Lol. It will be ok, might take some of it out "porting" the exh port but even if left as is, it's so smooth it will run just fine.

Bottom end had a nice wet coating of Red Armor.

Check out the excellent transfer dirt wash pattern.

@hacskaroly @Nate. - straight Superclean is actually incredible for rinsing grease / oil out of bearings. 10 min soak in a small cup. It's impressive, works way better than gasoline which is hard to believe. Even wheel bearings with thick red grease come out spotless.
Super clean is my favorite degreaser! I burn through a ton of the stuff. Never thought to try it on the bearings though… I’ll have to give that a shot.

Working on a 365 Special. It’s on the bench for a tune-up and turn up. At first I thought it had an AM carb, but someone just swapped an AM top cover on the carb. I’m sorry if you are in the camp that think Tygon is good fuel line, but I think it sucks. This stuff is hard as rock, and the fuel filter in the tank can’t move at all….it’s amazing the saw didn’t lean out and torch the top end.View attachment 401184View attachment 401185View attachment 401186View attachment 401187View attachment 401188
Finished up the jug for the 365 Special this morning. I don’t know what it is about these things, I but I really like em.1DDBF7E3-9ECF-413D-9F96-379B803DF539.jpeg

Started with this:

Built this:

Then I grabbed this guy:

And wound up with these:

The plan is I'll build a nice, all oem one with a 660 top end out of my newly acquired carcass and my original, cosmetically challenged 660 will get all the a/m parts and the 056 Mag II top end, so's I won't be hacking up a nice saw for my hybrid.

There is a planetary gear set in the attachment and a "crankshaft" with two throws so the two blades move in opposition to one another. It feels very good to hold on to, but I don't believe I will be tempted to put it to work. I will have to investigate it a bit further to see if I can learn what the clevis is all about.

With some help from @Nate. and a little cannibalization I got a 660 back together. Top cover might get swapped and it may get an actual filter cover, but for testing purposes it worked. Saw fired right up, idle was a spooge fast but considering the carb and top end changed crankcases I'm impressed that's all I had to fix. Heck, the high idle might've just been due to the Maxflow.

Why is that? Kill switch worked fine when I ran it.
It's flipped off, and if he's like me he won't think to check it till after 2 minutes of pulling on it. My dad leaves the kill switch "off" on saws while I always leave it "on", any time we're both cutting I'll grab a saw, pull on it 10 times, go "what the heck!?", facepalm, flip the switch off, and fire it up.

Ahh, I see, lol. I have actually swapped a couple over to the spring return string trimmer kill switch…fixes that problem nicely
