On my 272 I have one that rolls really good and one that is a little "stiffer"...I should play it safe and just get new ones while it is still split apart.Because even though they may roll real nice they can still be dirty.
Check out redline4 latest stihl build for a hot tip from Stump Shot on those type of mufflers Willhelm..Dolmar PS-550 muffler, part of the baffle broke off (the little piece on the top right) and rattled within the muffler.
Not chancing it finding its way into the combustion chamber, full muffler mod is underway.

And rebuilt with new meteor piston, air deflector, and pto side oil seal. Cylinder cleaned up OK luckily. Friend is extremely happy to have it back so quickly as he was intending to cut wood with it over the Christmas break. My freind sent me a MS661c 'that wouldn't turn over'. Ominous signs on opening the muffler:

That is awesome to hear. I have been surprised by a few cylinders that I thought would not make it, but clean up enough to have a second life! And rebuilt with new meteor piston, air deflector, and pto side oil seal. Link don't work, but found the thread thanks to the title
Glad you were able to find it, that was my first time trying to link to another forum thread.Link don't work
Why do I always put new bearings in a carcass I'm building? Because even though they may roll real nice they can still be dirty. Most of the hybrid 660 parts I've been waiting on showed up tonight, but I'm a slacker so there's not going to be any progress any time soon.

What is your process to wash them out and prep them for reinstall?...I am willing to give that a try since it is my saw.I’ve thoroughly washed many bearings that looked like that and never had one fail on me. To be clear if I’m rebuilding a saw for someone else it gets new bearings. But not a single one of my saws has ever received new bearings and I’ve never had one fail.
