The Redmax EBZ8500 backpack blower saga for my lawncare friend has come to an end. A good end though. I cleaned up the cylinder and deburred the new AM piston aggressively since the cylinder was not in the best shape. I wanted to give it the best chance possible to run another season.

The blower has really good compression and runs very strong now. It will be interesting to see if he can get another season out of it....I think he will.

I wanted to use the oem piston pin (btw look at how THICC that thing is, lord have mercy) but it was a touch too tight in the AM piston, even after deburring the edges.

Cleaned up a scored cylinder by hand. There are some vertical lines visible above the exhaust port. Is this a big concern? I can feel them with my finger nail.

A little hand sanding on the ridges can help sometimes. If it takes a lot of rotary sanding I worry about the plating around the port edges.

Done and dusted 2002 RM250... don't think I'll do any more 2T mx bikes for awhile is expensive and a pita finding parts for them with most parts being no longer available. Scored finding a nice stock pipe and muffler for it very hard to find now not destroyed.
Anyways runs sweet after tuning and setting power valves.. was just a budget build this one is nothing special got less than 3k in it.Screenshot_20240113_192524_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20240113_192552_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20240113_192615_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20240113_193036_Gallery.jpg

K2 to K8 RMs are stupid money here. Best offroad bike there was before Ktms took the vacant spot IMHO. Or maybe a tamed KX of similar vintage.

Yeah very easy engine to setup the power delivery how you want. It only takes a few minutes to retard or advance timing and set power valves for soft or savage mid hit power band. I've got it all set on savage mid/top and plenty of over-rev lol

We used RM triple taper carb needles in the Katos. Game changer. Probably big part of what made the RMs so smooth in the bush.

The carb has a TPS and adjusts timming from what I can gather and a power jet with solenoid apparently it cuts fuel to the power jet up top for more over- rev. It's was easy to jet for my elevation.

261 Arctics. What PITA’s. After doing 10-15 261C’s ( and multiple other models of Arctics) I never thought these might be challenging.

Guess the switch being in the top cover shoulda tipped me off. Took multiple pics, but decided to leave one together as a working model for reassembly.

These are for personal use and 2 friends. Never again, Lolol.
