A friend dropped this PS33 by for a checkup. Found a partly plugged spark arrestor screen, and it was about ready for a new chain. Checked/cleaned the carb (and reset the needle tab height), did a partial muffler mod by enlarging the baffle holes inside the can and opened the final opening a good bit. Those small changes really woke this little one up.

The 667 is back together with a new piston and new crank seals.

The Original to me PTO seal was not flush, cocked maybe 10 degrees. It ran very rich on initial startup using previous settings.

I recently ended up with the 2.0 version when I bought a pair of saws (the only way the seller would sell them, as a pair). The main saw I was after was a Poulan Pro 330 that looked to still be in great shape, $50. for both saws I figured I'd make the Homie a runner and resell it for what I paid for both. The Homie turned out to be a runner with no work needed, I just cleaned it up some and listed it for sale. It does seam to run well for what it is, and I'd use it for small stuff if it doesn't sell right away.....;) 20230902_143234.jpg20230903_151925_HDR.jpg;)

Lately been grabbing some saws priced cheap and that I felt were worth saving for use, and some to go through and resell. This Homie 330 just needed a good bath, seller claimed it needed the intake boot which he supplied with the saw when I bought it. Figured he was right knowing already that this is a common issue on these. I pulled it down for a good bath and found the boot was still like new (must have been replaced once before), it did have a collapsed fuel line and the fuel filter, stone type? was deteriorating, so both got replaced and a carb clean with new gaskets and diaphragms as well as the pump/pulse and oil hoses were replaced. I happened to have one last NOS spike for one of these and this one was clean enough that I went ahead and put it on. Runs great and I used the other boot on another 330 that I had that needed one to resell as a good user.20230827_074301.jpg20230827_074217.jpg

Still waiting on Mr. mailman to deliver the very few last small parts needed to complete this classic Echo 500vl. Quite sure I still have an NOS Echo labeled bar for it as well in my stash. Should be done by the end of this week, maybe sooner.....Before and after......:thumbsup:359755088_6179892178732995_2991178590697455682_n.jpg20230912_071659.jpg:thumbsup:

Which piston did you end up using?
For now using the dished one. To partly compensate for the feature, I made a base gasket that is 0.006" thick as an OEM one is 0.020" and applied a thin layer of threebond on both sides. Compression seems fairly good. Squish around the piston edge ended up at 0.035" with the thinner gasket/3bond combination. It sounds pretty good initially.

I'll put a gauge on it after running it in some wood giving it a bit of a break-in.

I'm still looking for a flat-top 667 or 667sp piston that is a proper price. I see them at a few of the European sites for $27-$35(after currency conversions), but haven't found one that will ship to the US yet. Maybe I need to find someone overseas to buy and then reship to me!

The one that @jacob j. mentioned on evil bay was a different part number than either of the numbers that I see in any of the IPL's that I have. And at that price, I thought to try other ideas.

Spit a circlip and trashed the piston. Also found the pto crank bearing toasted. Got lucky and the cylinder only had a couple gouges. I cleaned up the gouges with a diamond burr, rebuilt the bottom end with new oem bearings and gasket kit and put a new meteor piston kit in it.
