My 440 got put on hold until because I need to replace the crankcase so I thought I'd get started on an Echo 600/440 hybrid, I got the 440 cylinder to bolt down so it's off to a good start. If this works out I might turn my 620 into a 620/460 hybrid, not easy for me to find a 460 cylinder and if you got one you are willing to sale let me know.

This POS has fought me more than any other one I've worked on! Originally worked on it for a carb rebuild, oil and filter change and a deck belt. Turned into a new OEM carburetor, carb heat shield and intake heat deflector, valve cover reseal TWICE and finally had to drill out the fuel hose nipple in the bottom of the tank since MTD couldn't make it the right size from the factory!! Test mow tomorrow and deliver it back Wednesday!

Great fabrication. What's it weigh?
Great question! 10lbs? Forgot it was on my mill with the 880 and 50” bar the other day, I went to pick it up and forgot it was on there haha. Figured I got weak all of a sudden, then saw it on the end of the mill.

I found this laying around, coolant expansion chamber for an old volvo 140 iirc. I hope the hose is not too small, think I will try canola.

Just cut the squish band for that 440 a page back. Big thanks to the guys that have given me tips on squish band cutting over the last few months, I wouldn't say I got it down but I'm getting better at it.

The spikes the guy sent me didn't line up so I slotted the hole on the outer to make everything line up and if it starts pushing back I'l just have to weld the front part of the hole closed.

These are the ones I got, just to let others know what they are getting if they order them. https://www.ebay.com/itm/273036425959

Soon to be on my bench. This is quite unbelievable but I assure you, it happened just as I’ll describe. This fellow came in to our airport and landed GEAR UP and then , when he realized what was going on he pulled the nose up and FLEW OFF! He was very lucky to be able to come around and land with the gear down the second time. The pictures prove beyond a doubt that the airplane SAT ON THE RUNWAY, at least for a second or two before he was able to yank it skyward. Now, all that really happened, but what really takes the cake is that he walked up to us all (standing there watching him tie his plane up) and asked if one of us could get the ball rolling on a new propellor. If you are familiar with aircraft regulations , and ALL pilots are, you should know that a prop strike requires removal, tear down and inspection of the engine before it can be returned to service. They are mostly interested in the condition of the crankshaft. Anyway, our parts guy suggested he contact his insurance company. I suggested he Thank the Lord.
