Started on another street saw. This one is a Target, made in France. Has a Honda GX390. New carb, dipstick and exhaust deflector will be here tomorrow. Worked on saving the water tank today. Original fitting was busted off and a new tank isn't available anymore. A little bit of Jerry rigging will save it. A new 3/4 npt to 1/2 barb was screwed into the hole in the tank after opening it up a little bit with a step bit and a new piece of 1/2" id 3/4" od hose will make the water tank workable. Just need to patch a small hole up higher that was melted by the exhaust not having a deflector. 2 tank mounts on the block are broken that he'll have welded up.

You making a Hooskie Hybrid?
That is my current plan. I haven’t nailed down the plan yet, but I would like to try converting the 272 intake to a round style with 390 dimensions. If that works, I am hoping to feed the thing through a 390 boot and rwj carb.

We’ll see :). I hope it turns out well. I stumbled across the thread that chainsaw Jim did several years back. I thought I would try to take a slightly different approach. If it looks like it’s gonna work, I will probably do a build thread on it.

Looks like it ripped the tank apart at the bottom where the handle bolts on. I smell a full rebuild. Cheap insurance.
Yea, from just a quick look over it needs a new tank, clutch cover, muffler, handle and the lower hole for the spike tapped out. Oil is coming out from behind the clutch so it may need a crankcase half.

When the guy first asked me to fix that 461 he just wanted me to fix the oil leak until I pointed out all the other problems, it turns out that a tree feel on it, the guys cousin fixed the oil leak and they kept on using it until it started pouring oil out again. I showed him how his cousin fixed the leek, cracked case, and he didn't want to pay to have that fixed so I gave him a few bucks and it's my saw now.

I gave him $80 for it, it actually runs good and and I figured it was worth more than that in parts.

I’m posting to see if anyone has ever modified pistons to make the intake flow better. Reason I ask is I haven’t seen anything on the subject and the piston does serve as a valve.
3 angle valve jobs are standard in race engines(4stroke).
The bottom of tge piston intake skirt can be modified to replicate a three angle valve job
Done correctly and it will aid in emptying the intake tract as it reaches tdc as well as enhancing flow as the piston travels down past the port.
It will eliminate spit back, and it will allow more room to port the intake port

Persons have welded both tops and skirts of pistons on here to affect porting , just alot of catch up reading through posts.
