I think so Tor I haven't had a chance to tear it down yet.

385XP for round two, came in complaining of a lean run, pressure/vac tested good, pulled carb and found debris in the screen. Rebuilt the carb with a new Tillotson kit, new line and filter, new tank vent, pulled jug for cleaning and to replace rings and boot (older saw with a lot of time on it) deleted base gasket, went back together with Dirko, passed second pressure/vac test, modded muffler, back out she went. Came back two weeks later complaining of a lean run issue again, passed pressure/vac test again. Fired it up and it ran great cold but went lean hot. Failed vac test hot, so new crank seals on the way. Seriously considering just splitting the case and doing the whole thing this time. :BangHead:

That 044 fix didn't turn out too bad at all. Here's a little clip of the first cuts before break in. It's also running a low raker set up chain from my 064/066 and 075 so it wanted to keep binding up under load.
That's an interesting way to make mulch...

My Redneck seal check. When no topend is on a unknown case.

Gasoline will seep through any leak. But not through bad seals that are about to leak next time the saw gets good and hot.
I filled the crankcase in the 044 I just rebuilt to rinse it out but I walked off after filling it and noticed it didn't leak a drop after sitting for about five minutes when I got back at it. Then I popped the seals out to see that they were absolutely garbage on the inside. All gummy like taffy.

I still use ole mix when I do it. A bad seal has always leaked for me. Ones that havent leaked I have been good with.

Never had one not leak that was bad yet.

Thanks for info on yours with crud though. :beer-toast1:

Hey everyone, I'm encouraging everyone to check the decomp on their chainsaws. I got a decomp plug from Dave. I brought out a bottle of windex to check for leaks and I sprayed some around the decomp while slowly pulling the engine over and there's was lots of bubbles. Not where the decomp gets pushed in but where the decomp threads in. So I pull it out and put the plug in and checked for leaks again and it was leaking. So I gave a text to Randy and asked if I could use medium strength locktight. He said yes so I lock tight the thread and let it sit for an hour. While I waited for that to cure I went to the hardware store and bought some 2 part epoxy to fill in the hole on the plastic. I also got a chainsaw scrench holder and sprocket from Dave. Thanks Again @Definitive Dave for the parts and thank you @Mastermind for the help. My Stihl ms 441 rcm looks great!
