Ms 362 it leaned out and quit running. I thought it was a goner. Turns out it had a piece of chip/ twig or something in the carb. I hate this filtration system it also passes a lot of fines. I read "somewhere" else that a guy converted his to the new cm filter. Seemed like a real pain. Are there any other options?

Why does everyone hate 441's? There's one for sale local but I know nothing about stihl other than 038's. I dont want to buy a POS I can't flip easily.

The regular ones are just heavy dogs..A run of the mill 440 will walk all over them(at least mine did). Don't know about the newer m-tronic.

They are either a love or hate kind of saw. But the cm ones make more power stock and ported than a 044/440. Unless you make a hybrid.

I think I'm gonna leave it. He wants too much, is evasive about why he stopped using it, and turns out it's a three hour round trip to go see it.

i have a couple 362 cylinders that the plug striped out so it must be a problem with the series of saws along with the bad cranks

I have the saveathread system...not helicoil....I did one on a 372 that is in service right now. ..worked nice except they recommended rt silicone....I really doubt that'll work. I used 1184 and that didn't work. Jb weld works. Also...ya gotta really bang on that swager to get those teeth to bite. Once I got it...seemed to work really well.

Let me know if ya need a fix....I bought 10 extra inserts :)

Fun fun fun. Rebuilding an 056av top end, oil gear and pump. I had to pull a flywheel and coil off another carcass just to get the damn wire grommet.View attachment 27800 View attachment 27801

So the 056 now runs like a champ. Not so lucky for 044 and 046. The 046 case bearings have failed and the 044 looks like it was ran on a very rich mix of roofing tar and 5mm screws. This is going to be one of those cylinders that can only be saved by porting it. The screw in the pic is for reference. The one that made the marks exited the saw and it continued running for a long time.

Is this a customers saw or yours?
