Yes sir.

I started stripping the saw because the case gasket failed, leaking bar oil, pulled the front upper case screw, very short, wtf?

Helicoil appeared to just be holding the dog, no case compression.

Worst thing, the thread in the flywheel side case is 100% perfect and undamaged, never needed to happen.
Did you find the longer case bolt anywhere it wasn't supposed to be?
I can't even imagine the trouble to get a fricken spike to stay tight.

Rings still look good.
Yep amazingly enough! The cylinder is unmarked too and the crank seems fine!

A new Meteor is on its way and I'll do all the bearings and seals as well. It's also destroyed the case stuffer that projects up into the intake side of the piston, so I'll need to get that as well. Took a punt and paid the equivalent of $250US for it on our local auction site. Not the best of deals but I should come out on the positive side of the ledger.

Didn’t find it anywhere else, must have been that way for a while, the section of gasket below the muffler was completely gone.

Well it passed a pressure test, so off came the jug. The bottom ring was stuck and the jug has a pretty bad nick and scratch. I am personally not impressed with the oil film in the bottom end, but the bearings feel and look good. Does this wrist pin look normal? I feel like the saw has been hot.

The dreaded heater core leak what a PITA..
View attachment 305158
No kidding, hard to like that. In the 70’s Oldsmobile buried the heater core in the dash of their 88’s and 98’s so that replacement meant disassembly similar to what you’re doing. While I can’t remember who showed me I learned how to cut out the firewall at that location and slide it out from the engine side. We glued the hole up using the square blank you cut out after replacement. Same with the A/C evaporator. Good luck.

Lucky it's not to bad pulling all the dash out to get at the core on this one. It's a 93 festiva humans put the dash in unlike the new vehicles that have the dash put in all assembled in one go the modern rubbish isn't even designed to be worked on.

This reminds me of when I put an aftermarket radio in my old school Cavalier in High School. That looked similar when I finally got the trimming off around the old stereo. But hey, I could listen to CDs after that. Another piece of history, Compact discs.

Still the standard for me. Streaming and radio quality just aren't there. I do have a growing collection of vinyl.
