The outer color of those really varies,or is that a camera trick?

No trick. They vary in age quite a lot in that group. One is a 1st generation, the other 5 are type II, but the middle one is several years old. Different alloys at different eras I suppose.

Quick easy upgrade on my Echo SRM-2620, upgraded to the Shindaiwa debris shield, just did some trimming and much less debris went towards my legs. Thanks to @Onan18 for the suggestion!

Need something like this for my Husky string trimmer, that thing literally beats your legs with debris.

Ok so im a lil farther but didnt post these a few days ago while i was working on it. Thought this was interesting and wanted to share. Both of these pistons wer OEM Mahle’s. I visually noticed a difference in wrist pin thickness so I went a lil further. First 2 pics r 1 pin and 2nd pics r the other pin. Not only r they different in thickness they taper from outside to inside. All this I suppose is fairly marginal at best but we decided to go with the thicker wrist pin. 9C408973-A3C2-4070-BC5B-0858DD018C91.jpeg22EBBD17-6F37-4261-8886-8552C9915B89.jpegCE48E4CF-43E8-4B8B-A839-E62F38F6FF70.jpegB5385838-3C05-49A7-B76C-AC5841E7E5F6.jpeg00EAD2FA-3417-499D-9591-654AFE1FA05F.jpeg

Like i said pretty marginal but on the other side what would others do? Lil lighter, less rotating mass(maybe race saw application) lil heavier maybe more grunt? I know this is splitting hairs but interesting anyways.A9205BEA-384D-46C4-B2F8-1C8356D844F8.jpegA89F3A02-C89F-442F-B598-AE9AD82DBED3.jpeg

Heres another thing i actually caught myself doing it wrong. Fixed right quick but could be easily over looked if ur not OCD. The gasket needs to go behind the lil carb compensator port. If it doesnt neither of the ports will seal right and id suspect u will get chips and or dust through the carb. Something to think about anyways 34EA401C-5834-450A-8392-9ACACB0E411F.jpeg

Don't tell anyone......but I will for repeat customers.
While the cylinder at the top left has been run the middle one at the front looks like V1, any difference in port timing between V1 and the lighter slant fin V2 cylinders Randy?

None whatsoever.

Edit. Misunderstood.

Yes. There is a little difference in the exhaust height.

Craftsman log splitter got a new recoil assembly, air filter, air filter retainer and oil change.

SH85 shredder blower got a new carb and fuel line. Got it running and adjusted. Runs great.

That’s an interesting log splitter, can’t say I’ve seen one like that before unless it was electric.

Sorry Randy, I realize my post was probably confusing, I was referring to two things at once - you working on used saws and the difference in cylinder design between the MS261 V1 and V2. I agree, they are very nice saws, I've owned and used both versions (stock apart from a muffler mod, TA and base gasket delete), but I must say they sit a little in the shade of the XS346xp NE, which I now have. Is the exhaust slightly lower stock on a V2?
