I think it goes on the cylinder with the other ring terminal and follows that wire to the coil iirc. Basically doubled up a ground

While my Wife went down to New Rochelle to pick up our 3 year old Granddaughter, I did some miscellaneous stuff to the 461 and 066 while waiting on parts.

First, I modded the 461 muffler using my infamous 2 - 1/4" hole system on the upper right side of the cover, then I removed the limiters from the carb (my favorite "tool" for doing this is a 2" fine thread sheet rock screw), then I did something I hope will fix the 066 case.

The 066 case is broken where the upper dog bolt goes, with only half the hole remaining. Rather than swap out the case half, if found a small washer of just the right size and drilled two small holes in it for wire to go through, then drilled the case in two places for the wire also. I then prepped the surfaces and glued everything in place with PL Premium. I know just gluing the washer would not be strong enough, but I'm hoping the 2 pieces of wire help to strengthen it.

It is currently being held in place with a small vice grip while it dries (24 hrs). After that, I plan to glue a small steel tube in place to provide addl strength. I figure one of the ones I got for the brake flags would work perfectly. I'll use a bolt to hold it in place after I remove the vice grips. I'll let you know if it worked when I'm done!

Why not use jb weld instead of plumbing glue/caulk?

It is not plumbing caulk, it is an industrial adhesive.

1) I have had very good luck using it for a variety of things.

2) It does not have to be mixed.

3) It provides you with much longer "work time", but also takes longer to dry.

I'm also in the process of making a new degree wheel that will be much easier to set up.

I didn't have an old drill chuck like a lot of people use, so my mind was searching for other options for attaching the degree wheel to the saw.

Then it hit me like a ton of bricks! I mostly just work on 440, 460 and 660 saws, so I could attach the degree wheel to the flywheel puller!!!

I printed a 8" degree wheel and glued to to a hard backing (synthetic particle board). I then inlet washers on each side the diameter of the flywheel puller bolt, and purchased 2 fine thread nuts that fit the bolt. One nut will lock the degree wheel in place, the other will lock the bolt on the flywheel side!

With this setup, it will be easy to adjust the flywheel instead of bending the pointer.

The washers were glued in place with PL Premium, everything is drying, but I will let you know how it works.

I want to check the port timing on that 066 Big Bore jug before I finish it. I'm hoping to just widen the exhaust a bit, and lower and widen the intake a bit.

The transfers look surprisingly good to me for an AM BB jug! Also, I think the piston skirt is just long enough to prevent free porting. When I dropped the piston all the way in the jug, the amount of free porting looked about equal to what the squish should be.

Squish is .024, but I have the exhaust sealed for pressure testing, so I can't tell if there is any free porting.

Z4200 just about done. Engine fully serviced, deck put back on correctly, and checked/adjusted steering levers and tracking. Test mowed with it and it did good. Just need to install the mulch kit on Monday/Tuesday and wash it. Got some good tunes going on as well. Gonna get a fuel system and tune up done on a buddy's FS55R too. Then I have another 55R to do a coil on as well. The coil will wait till Monday.

Is ther supposed to be a big washer on that 039 like this in pic inbetween the oil pump and the clutch. Ther wasnt one in box of parts. I thought maybe ther should be so i got one but it dont seem to fit. Clutch drum wont go on far enough with it but will without it.

Make sure you have the washer on the right way. The side that says "top" goes to the outside.

Also, make sure the clutch (reverse thread) is all the way down and tight.
I have the wrong washer. I thought they would all be the same. I got one off an old 038. I ordered one yesterday so will have to wait for it to come in this week.

Modded the 066 muffler late yesterday while I'm waiting for an intake boot for it (so I can pressure test it).

A lot more work than modding the 461 muffler, partly because I leave the baffle alone on 460/461s.

The baffle seemed like it would be real hard to remove, so I just drilled a 1/2" hole in the back and then went to work with my grinder and opened it up some more. Then I also opened up the original hole quite a bit, as it is kinda small to begin with.

Used my new grinding tool that I got from HF for about $50 that comes with an adjustable speed foot pedal. It is not real high end, but for the price I'm pretty impressed with it, and it's working for me!
