Swapped out the handle on a 260, guy got it from work for $20! 2552EC30-0808-459E-80DA-057AF720C720.jpeg91DF8D80-2E22-4D2D-B760-910BED346C83.jpeg And a 440 isn’t looking so hot, was want wanting to build a hybrid, knew it was scored, and CB71E243-28A8-4092-AAA1-AB167F52416E.jpeg 1AD6FBCE-A39B-4748-926A-C32853D0FC24.jpeg have a decent 460 top end, but the crank is seized, now I need to find a crank

So I had to remove the tank on my fresh SP81 to put the correct fiber disc in the manual oiler, I tried a aluminium welch plug but it was not working.
I also red kote sealed the tank when I originally put the saw together but have since developed 3 very tiny spots that have caused the paint to bubble out from fuel pressure.
Since separating the tanks halves is never a good idea with these Id like to know what you guys think ?
I did purchase a bottle of acetone for thinning the red kote if recoating is a possibility. 20210613_160040.jpg 20210613_160047.jpg 20210613_160113.jpg 20210613_160119.jpg

What I've done with old tank coatings that were either not applied correctly or developed leaks later is to let them sit for days or even weeks with some Methyl-Ethyl-Ketone
in them and over time it softens up the tank coating material for removal or reworking. I also use MEK to thin out the coatings I use.

Just kidding, a neighbor who was/is a machinist gave me a piece of plate that's roughly the same thickness as a Stihl 056 big dawg, it was salvaged off of something he scrapped so I have no idea what rc hardness it is. It's a pita to drill, though, so it's plenty hard for dogs.

Got a pre filter to try on the 066. If It works good I may order a few more for other saws.

When I got the saw in a box it was missing most of the air filter stuff so this was way cheaper then bying original stuff off ebay.
I didnt think the new filter was stopping the fines so i got this outer wear filter cover. My BIL has a few and never has to blow out his filter. Just pop pre filter off shake out and reinstall.
