This was done with acid, 80 grit emery paper on a split mandrel, and then a red scotchbrite ball from Glock. I’ve never used anything but 80 grit. When it dulls I tear off the end and start again. It was scored pretty good when I started, but I didn’t get any pics before hand

@merc_man Those filters are getting hard to come by for sure. You can buy some thin OPEN CELL foam sheets and cut and secure with zip ties. It may look cheesy but your engine will appreciate it. I make my own on the small old Poulan from thicker sheets. Just don't use a closed cell type or it won't start. LOL!!

On my bench is a 99% complete 372 xpw I'm refreshing, a 371 crankcase/jug assy I'm cannibalizing, and 3/4 of a 365 xt with a chinese top end and bum cases I'm putting the 371 stuff on. I'm missing a lot of the plastics, but supposedly a guy on AS has what I need. Also, my 562 went on the bench for a cleaning and is now awaiting a recoil pulley. Lastly, @Philbert will appreciate this, I was getting ready to spin a loop of .404 back together for @davidwyby when I noticed the teeth looked funny. Turns out I almost spun a section in backwards! I would never have lived that down, much like "Ditchin" Definitive Dave.

Cleaned them up a little, pulled the mufflers.

One on the right looks newer, damaged piston and rings, 90 psi, spark.

Older on the left, bore looks like a ring chattered in it maybe? But 135 psi, sucker runs.

Anyone besides me try one o' these as a super cheapie top end solution for a 192T? If so, I'm curious about how you addressed the obvious issue with the impulse barb.

I have a 562xp that I'm finally getting around to. Bought it last year in pieces after it got run over by a skid steer. Got a new bottom end for it and a new Meteor piston. Put the jug on to measure squish, I got about .035" with a factory gasket. I'm still waiting on some parts but it should be together soon.
