Fired up all of my equipment. Just need to get my new SRM-2620 trimmer in the next few weeks as I sold my Shindaiwa T235 a couple weeks ago to a landscaper buddy of mine. Finishing up the big order for the landscaper in the next week or so. Thursday morning I'm picking up the rest of the parts for him.

Had 2 201t's on the bench. One wasn't oiling so it got a working oil pump. The other had a cracked fuel tank and got a new oem tank. Oh and it also got a good cleaning. Both done and on their way back home.

I went through a Mini Mac phase for awhile. Got to where I could totally disassemble one in about 15 minutes. The biggest weakness is that you pretty much have to do that to replace anything at all. If Mac had made the design more modular, I think they would have been more respected.

I got a little more done on the 562 cylinder this afternoon. I need some more practice before I try cutting the squish band on a good cylinder, so it's getting a pop up.

My ol work car started making some noise on the way back from a road trip. Figured it was due for a timing chain tensioner. 2.2 ecotec seems to be a common issue. New tensioner didn't solve the noise 100% so tore into it. Found a mess.......

Mustang was making some strange noises a few months ago ... after they changed the alternator and half the belt pulleys they realized it was the drivers side cam actuator. Luckily, it has run like a top since that was fixed! It sounded like a power steering pump w/o fluid (if anyone remembers what that used to sound like).

Guess that part failed just on time, and she has been dead solid reliable throughout Tax Season (I go to peoples homes, so the Stang gets a lot of use that time of year.)

Turned wrenches for my 1st trade. The above would have been called parts guessing. I would have had my arse handed to me by my boss. We used to use a long screwdriver as a stethoscope to pin point the noise location.

Unfortunately there are a lot of "part changers" out there and not a lot of mechanics.
I left the trade because of this. The part changers made easy money and got extra commission on the parts.... then when it wasn't fixed after 2-3 tries I ended up with it to find the actual problem and fix all the things they had half assed.

Easy steps to save your weekend or vacation.

I don't know why but we seem to be the only shop that stocks flywheel keys. But even we cant stock them all. And unlike saws dang outboards need them won't run long without.

This is not a permanent fix. But it will save your weekend or vacation trip to the boundary waters.

In fairness to them, the car is a 2006 and I thought the noise was outside also. Likely all my parts vibrate a bit now!

I was worried it was the SC bearings! It has not been in perfect balance since it ingested parts from the blown engine at 129,000 miles! (And that was an all stock motor, now I have Eagle crank, rods and pistons - much sturdier!).

As long as it is fixed, and runs like a top, I'm happy!

A big box of Stihl parts. Got 2 BR800s repaired and serviced this evening. 1 got a new top cover, flex pipe and clamp kit. The other one got a new plastic elbow. They both also got fuel filters, spark plugs and air filters. The FS91s got spool inserts as needed. Just need to do the fan housing on 1 800 plus a service kit. Waiting for the top engine cover for the KM131.
