Went to check out the Kawi on the Gator that I repaired in the fall. Guy thought it was not running properly. Verified that it was hitting on both cylinders and let it idle to temperature. Took it for a ride and it ran good. Did a full throttle run and it ran good as well, a little bit of an afterfire/backfire when I let off of it but decided it's not a big deal. He's put about 100 hours on it since I did the repair so I think if anything major would have happened by then. In another 100 hours I'm going to return for an oil and filter change plus fuel filter. He paid me for my time and he'll keep me posted.

Have to love those service items that aren't even listed in the service manual. And are so hidden hardly anyone knows about them and nobody ever services them.

Fuel recirculation screen/filter on a e-tec. Kinda reminds me of the screens on transmission separator plates.

Where abouts is that screen located? My uncle was having trouble with hus etec last season.

It's located at the bottom of the fuel pump vapor separator. You remove the high pressure return line and it's tucked back inside the fitting. A very small 90 degree pick will grub it out. Just be careful to not rip the screen. I don't believe you can buy a replacement from brp.

So Matt how and why did you use a Husky 390 bearing in a Stihl?

True Mike but he's using the 390 on the PTO side that is proprietary?

If you use the stihl bearing....there is a chance you can screw up the seal during seal install. Use the husky bearing.....zero chance because its already integrated into the bearing. The stihl seal rubber rides against the crank. The husky rubber rides against the inner race.

Also. The husky bearing is slightly thinner. So no need to pull it against the oiler. Just pull it flush with inner crank boss and u r good.

Plus its cheaper overall.

I hate proprietary bearings.....but if I'm gonna use one itll probably be the husky design.

Had 2 201t's on the bench. One wasn't oiling so it got a working oil pump. The other had a cracked fuel tank and got a new oem tank. Oh and it also got a good cleaning. Both done and on their way back home.

I'd be embarrassed to turn a saw over for work that dirty.
