Got a 440 that should have been gone months ago. I blamed covid because I couldn't find a Meteor 440 piston for a while. Finally got it about 6 months ago. My fault now! Got the seals in for any of you that heard about my 066 build from a few years ago. @Glock37 @Duane(Pa) the seals are in. Also got both side done and ready for the top end!

JJ - that is part of the "Auto-Mac" self sharpening chain set up. When you push the button on the rear of the saw it pushes that whole assembly forward so the grinding wheel touches the chain as it spins around the sprocket. If it is set up correctly, the large diameter wheel towards the saw touches the clutch drum to spin the grinding wheel. You should be able to see the grinding marks on the chain at about a 45 degree angle to confirm it is set up and working correctly. You may notice there are two bearings in the center of that bracket that allows the grinding wheel to spin freely.

The clutch drum is specifically designed to accommodate the driving wheel.

This week's projects.
FS94 "sometimes runs like sh*t"
The MS170 and PS-6400 are a get running and service.

All 3 pieces have gobs of compression.

Buddy dropped off the Thin Mints I bought from his daughter and he also gave me his old Coleman Powermate 5000 generator, it lost spark suddenly, he bought a new 8000 watt generator and he had no interest in fixing the 5000. Gonna get it running, tested and flip it.

Checked out the generator and got it running. Oil was very low and dirty so I just changed it which resolved the no spark issue. Oil was low enough to trip the low oil shutdown which grounds out the ignition module killing spark. Replaced the plug, fuel line filter and clamps. Ordered a new air filter and pre filter which will be here Monday. Ran well for an hour. Put it up on marketplace and hopefully it'll find a new home shortly.

Got the fuel line situation with Napa sorted out too after work. Last Saturday I ordered a 25' box of 1/4" fuel line from the local Napa for shop stock, they were supposed to have it the following Monday, they never called me Monday morning, decided I'd take care of it during the week. Went there after work today and found out that they had sold it to someone else or as pieces. They ordered me another one and I'll have it Monday. Meanwhile I had ordered 2 25' boxes of Briggs 1/4" hose on Amazon and I'll have it tomorrow. Looks like I'll be set for a while with 1/4" fuel line as I'll have 75' of it along with 200 squeeze clamps.

That's a good copy - thanks Mark. I'll probably just leave it off of mine.

I've got a Stihl 034 super I might tinker with .I'm not certain exactly now what it was missing. Gas tank vent for one which I found .It would start but I've never ran it under power .These are in essence an 036 which is a nice 60 cc saw .I've also got some version of a Poulan that cosmetically looks good most likely just a carb rebuild sub 3 cuber ,forgot the number freebie .
I think I finally have the old Jeep running right .The timing was off by a mile and the points must have been 60 thou, should have been 20 thou .Runs a lot better now .
If you get the points set too wide those things will bang and pop and try to blow the head gasket out . Trying to fire way too far in advance lights the fire too soon . These old slow engines being an under square engine built for torque rather than speed only have a 5 degree advance with no vacuum advance unit .Kind of like a tractor engine .These things are a tall engine using a long connecting rod which helps the low end torque .In good tune you can lug them down you can almost count the times the cylinders fire but you're better off to grab another gear and keep the revs up a little .Easier on the rotating assembly .

Early 045AV with failed big end needle cage. No major damage otherwise -- amazingly enough. Top end still sweet and any debris from the cage evidently was jettisoned out the exhaust. Case itself is a little funky as are the bearings -- basically with just old mix.

F/W bearing is common as is the seal, but we all know the PTO side is a different story. Seals can be had, but the bearings are non-existent, though I heard somewhere that Sagenspezi was working on a deal with slacker to start offering them again -- at least the one that accepts the oil seal.

Anyway, has anyone used a USC with something like Seafoam to clean slightly gummy but otherwise good bearings? The PTO bearing on this 045 is smooth, just a little gunky. Only one I know of right now, so.....

TIA for any useful observations.

I just run em with Mean Green. Then oil and store in a ziplock bag. Smooth as silk !!!!!!

Cool. I'm guessing you're referring to the $5 a jug stuff vs. the $27 a jug industrial strength?
