Last night I got my buddy's Ariens finished up. Installed the new carb and test ran it. Ran well. No snow left here to try it out in though [emoji3525]. Taking some time off to relax. End of this week I have both a Stihl and a Dolmar coming in both for a get running and service.

I bet... Glad your feeling better sir.
Now get to work...

I wish I could say I was better. But a full recovery is months away I'm afraid. No open wounds anymore, but it's still swollen and extremely painful.

Advice for the kiddos. Never inject grease into your fingers. Not fun.

The 2245 is a project I got kinda by mistake. When I got it i only messed with it for a min. Iirc it had 120 psi and spark but no fire. Hmm.

The 450 an older friend of mine brought today for diagnosis. I think we found it. Scored and 90psi. His son was using it and we are reasonably certain it wasn’t straight gassed. Owner and I were sharpening and test running just the other day.

Recommendations for where to look for Leaks or failure points, etc. with these? Planning to fix compression and then leak test. Think it’s gonna need a cyl? I think just a ring.
How much will interchange between these two?
Thanks

I just had a 2245 that looked way worse through the exhaust port. I didn't think it was going to fly so I bought a new 2250 complete top kit. After getting it together and running, I spent some time with the original cylinder and it cleaned up no problem. So seeing yours, I'd guess it's salvageable. Should you need a usable 2245 cyl, hmu.
This saw had the flywheel "key" shear and it could have been the dull chain - 50/1 water in the mix scenereo as I found no other issues.

Never knew you got injured. Hope your getting better. So what exactly happened?

The 2245 looks good in the port. Too bad it's 5cc smaller. Thanks for the tip on timing and the parts offer!

The 450 is 44mm, I wonder if one of my old 2050 rings will fit. I was thinking it would be fun to fix it a lot faster than he expects and dump it on his porch running one evening while he's home. :-D

Hose on our grease gun ruptured and shot grease into my right index finger.

This was after the dead skin finally started peeling off.

Wait. What? I missed something apparently. That hurts just to think about it!

@Mastermind - that is some bad stuff. A millwright that used to work for me had a hydraulic line rupture and shoot hydraulic oil into his hand. Almost lost his hand and had problems for years after that.

Hope you get to feeling better and the hand heals up properly.

I don't think there's going to be any danger of losing it at this point. But in order to save it, the clean up caused a lot of damage to the nerves, and tendons. Doc tells me that it will be a year or so before it starts feeling normal again. I've lost some range of motion that I likely won't get back. For now the frustration of being clumsy is the worst part. I finished the saw testing yesterday, and was trying to put a thermostat housing on a 351 I'm building, and wound up dropping the same bolt several times, and ended up smacking my head on the engine trying to pick it up. The 351 is looking pretty good though.
