I’ve never used it that concentrated. I have a 10 or 15 L, and I put a few gallons of water in it and a couple glugs of mean green. I was always scared if I used it stronger it would peel the paint off.

I had some pretty dirty 044 cases that wouldn’t clean up well. After about three hours, the paint started to lift. I was worried that it was the cleaner, but now I’m actually thinking it’s the amount of time combined with the hot water that’s peeling it
I have never had a Husqvarna peel.
The squeals... they are much more prone to it.

I agree on the temp thing as I don't think it's the cleaners that cause it.

Workin on a 021. Was leaking air where the clam shell bolts togeather. Replaced the seals too while it was apart that far. Gonna let the motoseal dry till tomorrow or so then finish putting it togeather. I spent a couple hours trying to get it clean again. It was cover in thick oily sawdust that was baked on and had to be scaped off. Its not perfect but way better then it was.

Dad's MS211 for some much needed TLC. New aftermarket carb, new plug and fuel filter. Clutch bearing was a little squeally so it got cleaned and greased along with the end of the crank and inside the clutch drum. Dressed up the bar. Chain was good. Blew out the air filter. Runs pretty good, just need to wood test to fine tune the carb.

Cleaned out my ultrasonic cleaner and refilled with 1.5 pints of LA's Totally Awesome and a gallon of water.

We will agree to disagree here. I personally think its always better to rebuild the OEM carb vs. going with AM. There is no comparison.

I usually try to go that direction also.
If a carb is absolutely unusable though and the OEM is steep on price I will try AM.

I have used a few AM carbs that worked just fine though.

I used a HUAY carb from DD on a 200t once that worked perfectly.

I used an $18 special on an echo string trimmer that the original carb was trashed on.
That one has been flawless for 5-6 years now..... It's mine and have never even turned a screw on it since installed.
I even tried to tune it upon installation but it was spot on.

Sometimes you get lucky I guess!!

I generally use OEM carbs but I had a difficult time finding an OEM one. I've used plenty of aftermarket carbs especially on Chinese generators and cheap single stage snowblowers and I've had very good success with them. I rebuild my fair share of carbs but it is more cost effective to replace rather than rebuild for me. It also saves me the headache of a comeback.

Comes down to quality. That's all. In my personal experiences the Chinese AM carbs work ok for a year or so, but just do not last. The carb adjustment screws also required different presets. OEM was basically 1 and 1. The chinese carb that I was using was 2.5 for H and 1.5 for L.
That shows the innerds of the carb were smaller inside.
Just me.
You guys keep doing what your doing.
Carb jets were fixed and non replaceable.

I'm no chinese spokesman by any means but sometimes they do fit the bill!

My opinion matters none but for me most AM parts are More prone to failure. As long as that’s not something that’s not going to effect someone’s ride breaking down, job coming to a hault, or money getting affected in some way then if it’s cost effective at the time for getting something going that’s not critical sure it will get you by but have it on ya mind that it could come bite ya in the arse. That being said some AM parts can get you back in business if you’re not able to afford or come across the OEM parts and save the day. I can see both sides as a good point and respect them equally. There are also some respectable AM parts like meteor pistons and such. I let people do them. Ima do me.

I finished the port work for my extra boudin 272. I have a friend sending me a 2 piece Aftermarket coil for it. Should I throw that coil away and not try the saw out:rolleyes:

Good points made on the Meteor Pistons! Some AM companies are very good. Maybe even better than OEM.
The meteor pistons are a harder alloy than OEM. Back when I use to cut pop ups the meteor wouldn’t deform on a 4 jaw. I’d have to be really gentle with OEM pistons. I think I even still got one that deformed on me I could show a picture. That’s just me Though others may have had different experiences.
