I sold an 064 that I rebuilt from the ashes to a young fella starting out in contract fencing.
He paid good money for it, and when he rang me this after noon to say it had started to conk out and then just stopped and wouldn't start, my heart sank.

He said he wasn't upset and I told him to bring it back and I would fix it.
He was shocked and said "are you sure?"

I told him if he didn't bring it back I would track him down and fix it at his place.
He brought it over and we checked for spark.
The limited coil had failed.

I reluctantly went and dug out the unlimited dog leg coil and dual keyway flywheel I had stashed for my 064 build and fitted it up.
Still no spark.
Pulled the old lead and put a new lead and boot on ,and it now pulls a 1/2 spark.

I have kept the saw so I can take it out to my parents farm and give it a good run and proper tune up now that its running unlimited.
I also did a nice muffler mod for him for free to compensate for the trouble.

I am actually looking forward to running it tomorrow and seeing what it will tune to now that its got a muffler mod and unlimited coil.

I was going to put mine together on the weekend as well..... but its staying in bits now that I have no flywheel and coil :(

I have a new AM unlimited coil I used on an 066 red light for a while.
I was going to ask the forum if I could use one of these with the 064 unlimited flywheel?

Whats a 1300 coil. I assume that is a new unlimited 066/660 coil

The 1300 coil is the coil from the 026 - 044. If that coil will fit your cases (some cases won't accept it, but most will), then I can broach a flywheel that works with it.

I will pull the coil from my brothers 044 I have here and see if it bolts in.
I need to replace the oil hose anyway so it wont hurt to have it on the bench.

What flywheel would you use?

There are a few different flywheel for the 064, one that uses the Prufex coil, one that uses either the 1300, or the limited, and one that uses some other coil if memory serves.

I rebroach the ones that don't work with the 1300 coil to the correct orientation.

Ok, so I could post you my limited coil flywheel and you could mod it to run a freely available coil.

I like the sound of that.

Here is the flywheel that was on the limited saw

WP_20160707_19_06_32_Pro.jpg

Here is the info on it from the technical page:

1122 400 1204 – 064 – limited with retarded start timing

1122 400 1204 (single keyway) – 064 for use with limited coils ONLY

Is the retarded start timing built into the flywheel or the coil?

Send them to me mate.
You can buy them back on gumtree :)

Keep warm and get well!

I have gone from wearing thongs in the garage to thongs and socks (very stylish combo) to boots.

I love winter cause I am a fire bug, but I far prefer the summer!

The bar cover or clutch cover?? You can still get both here. The small store had any dead saw $40!!!! Used bars $10 new $20, tanks $10, etc etc. The 044 is complete and has compression, dont know why it was in the pile, havent taken the cover off, the 200t is missing some stuff but has good compression. They had 2 066.s but they had been used to cut salt water ice,, both very corroded and looked straight gassed.

MS361 out the door and gone as well as Stihl weed whizzer, pile of parts showed up including the last one(tank vent) for the 266SE project. Homelite brush saw with fuel issues, MTD weed whizzer and a McCulloch 320 in for a resurrection of sorts.IMG_20160706_143135_262.jpg
