I brought the Junk Yard Dog SP125 back for some parts replacement, thanks again to JJ, Vinny, and Lee for their contributions.

I noticed the fuel tank was weeping in a couple of spots so I changed that for one that I'd cleaned up and given the Red Kote treatment a few weeks back. I also changed the key less clutch for a keyed clutch to prevent slipping. This one will be put to work, my current work saw will get cleaned up and moved over to the museum for display.

What do you use and how do you fix a weeping fuel tank?

Having seen one Stihl, You have seen them all! :p

:boxing:
I wish it were that simple .Most German, Swedish etc manufactures seem to use some interchangeable parts .In other some parts are used on other models .Stihl being Stihl really enjoys using parts they have world wide patents for therefore they attempt to control the repair parts if needed .It's all good quality stuff but drives me bonkers when I'm limited to dealer only parts access and availability .Fact I've worked with a bunch of German engineers over the years and most of them shun Stihl because of that .They don't like being controlled either .

Wait another year or so, Stihl will implement chips in all parts of their saws thus rendering repairs with AM parts impossible.
They'll follow suit set by Apple and Tesla since the consumer is willing to pay dearly yet accepts to newer really being the owner of the product!

The world really is circling down the *s-wordter.

They did it with automobiles but it did not render them impossible to repair .Imagine the old horse and mule farmers about 1916 when tractors hit the market .They figured them out eventually .As for me I really don't have too worry about it because the idea of a new modern saw doesn't appeal to me and at nearly 73 years old it just isn't going to happen . --BTW I figured out the automobiles .:)

All done. Delivering Sunday morning. As far as what it got, it got a carb rebuild, new primer bulb and hose, new recoil, new slide shoes, and an engine service.

My other saws don't see much use since I got my ported 261 V II and 2 ported 462s.

Light, powerful, smooth, fast … and no stupid little screw driver needed … I'll keep em!

The fuel tanks on the older McCulloch SP model saws are sealed with epoxy so you can't just replace the gasket like most of the 10 Series saws or the other large frame top tank saws. I clean the tank out with some acetone, make sure it is clean and dry, then treat it with Red Kote making sure to roll it around and build up a good layer on the seam.

I bought the most recent quart in November of 2018 and have just completed tanks #9 and #10 with this one. I figure I have another 3 to 5 tanks I can still treat with what's left in this can.

I used that many times in vintage m/c tanks.
Kreem was the only option I knew of for quite a while.

As many of these as you do, are the plain steel slide shoes the best? I tried the poly and my concrete tore em up. Even made a set using trying skateboard wheels, another fail. Guess just order some replacement MTD shoes?

Poulan Pro 11/30 snowblower. Reassembled with new belt, repaired wheels and impeller actuating shaft. New hardware for belly pan and engine/transmission to blower housing. Just need to change oil and adjust shoes and scraper bar.

Echo 670. Not pulling fuel. P & V test checks out fine. When I put the gauge on my impulse line, the needle barely budges when I turn the saw over. How much pressure should
I be seeing?
You’ll only see +- 1 or 2 lbs

I have a 2003 Ariens. I haven't changed them yet.
This is a 2005, but probably my inattention. Would bring it in and it would sit in the melting snow and road salt and rusted. Ended up shooting the augers and housing with single stage urethane, a new scraper and tried the poly skids. I now set it up on 2x4's to keep it out of the water. It was rescued from dumpster for a bad carb to start with, but I should of treated it better.
