I also have a Partner 500 that should be gone through. From your experience do these seem to have a more easy to hear bearing noise? Where are you finding parts for these?
I don't think you should be hearing any more bearing noise than any other saw. The best place to find parts would be the trading post or ebay, what parts are you looking for?

Nothing wrong with this saw. This saw came to me in a basket completely encased in sawdust a couple years ago. The way sawdust was packed into everything made me think it got covered up and forgotten. Once I got it running I put it away. Never even got it up to operating temp. I fixed THAT today.

As far as bearings and seals you should be able to cross reference them .The seals on two p-100's I recently did by using the McCulloch 1000 parts list I had no problem .Partner parts lists are not the easiest to understand .I got the parts from flea bay ,cheap .Scott at ChainsawR often has Partner parts .Although I have no experience with the Partner 500 or 5000 if they are built with the same robustness of the big boy P-100 the bearings might be just fine .The Swedes not only make good Vodka they also build for most part very substantial engine driven stuff .

3 dropped off for evaluation/repair. The generator and snowblower both need carb rebuilt/general maintenance. The Hooskie backpack blower is siezed and not worth repair.

The complaint with the Ariens is that it will idle but not accelerate, dropped carb bowl and immediately found the issue. Carb kit ordered. Also the link for the auger/impeller is missing, found a good used one on eBay. Once it's up and running it'll get a service with oil change, plug, and shoes/belts as required.

I still have to check out the generator.

Got the cylinder for my 500 pretty much ready this afternoon. I wish I could get it on and try it out tomorrow but I'm waiting on a couple of parts.

Edit: Just wanted to ad that if you want to put a 45mm 51 or a 45mm closed port 55 cylinder on a Partner 500/5000 you will have to thin the flange and I don't think there would be enough flange left if you did it to a 46mm 55 cylinder.

7310 is back together, definitely interesting cylinder layout. I just cleaned the lowers up opened up the exhaust port a little, made a thin base gskt, put it together and retuned. This saw is very well made, very thought out design. The case has machined inserts for the handle bolts, nice to see and loctite from the factory.

I use clear plastic "fishing tackle" type organizers for the hardware.
That way when I drop the or knock them over I'm not hunting for bits and pieces that end up hiding behind or under everything!
Lol

They are cheap and easy to clean also.

660 project saws are hard to come by in these parts. Nice winter project if you have the time.
Nice! I have a 066 pre poly flywheel with small crank seal project and I’m waitin on Matthew Olson to get rods back in stock so I can get it done an back together. Already have it ported. Just patiently waiting...

UPS delivered my Christmas present today, put an Echo air filter on it, added some fuel in it and it fired right up, the also oiler worked. Looks like the last owner was running a 3/8 chain on a 404 clutch, it trashed the clutch and chain but I was lucky enough to find a new 3/8 clutch for $15 shipped on ebay. The only other problem I can see is that the throttle is catching on the oil line. So New clutch, carb kit and some new lines and it should be goo to go.
