The things you find servicing stuff. The Kawasaki FH601D on the Gator was definitely overdue for a spark plug replacement. Not worth doing a compression test as it has an automatic compression release. Did a leakdown test and it was fine. I'm pretty sure he'll notice a improvement in performance.

What causes that Will? Valves out of adjustment?

1300 hours without a plug replacement. Plugs are supposed to be inspected every 100 hours and the valve clearances checked/set every 300. Checked the clearances and they were in spec.

Well unfortunately she's dead. Replaced plugs and was only running on cylinder 2. Redid leakdown test and 80% leakage into crankcase. Popped valve cover and both push rods were bent. Called customer and he said that he did notice a lack of power. He said it's been lacking power for a while. I'm going to give @Onan18 a call tomorrow and see what his advice is.

Gasket/ case matched lowers. Did some blending, hogging, polishing. Also took the skirt down to just past flush with base. F2905CA1-507C-4366-B35C-7CF0FB113FD7.jpegBAA849B3-6C3A-4757-91DB-8F13FFCF5A23.jpeg63EBDD81-8E2C-4825-805D-798596A5BA95.jpegE7732B91-C450-42FD-A3F9-62C9462F79F3.jpeg

The Kawi engine on my 425 did something similar. It "diesled" on me one day when I shut it off, they next time I started it it only ran on one cyl.
No compression and upon inspection it had bent pushrods.
Never knew exactly why but there was a bunch of carbon buildup on that cyl. and not the other.
After a thorough cleaning, gaskets, seals, some new pushrods and reassembly the engine has been fine. Even after adding around 400 more hours to it.

Carbon stuck valve would be my guess. Bad fuel or weak rings causing a burn/buildup problem on that cyl. Shut it off without a cool down period and all the gunk seals the valve to the seat. Next time it cranks up it will bend the push rods.

Just a guess.
