I've got an 011 rear handle also. It runs but I've get a lot better little saws, namely an 024 Stihl for light work .Found it in the dead pile of a dealer ,supposed burn piston .Gutted the muffler and never did another thing to it .Some times you get lucky .----( when I was younger man that had a slightly different meaning ) :applaudit:

Storm coming … better hide!!!

My first saw with 404 (32" light bar), balances well!

Today I swaped out the 8 pin for a 7 pin and re did the cutters on the chain. Never played with 404 before, but I could not get my square file on the cutters. So I used my 12V sharpener to convert them to 30*, then I was able to get my square file in and finish them.

I like it now! :-)

Tested my buddy's 6500 watt generator, ran the entire house for an hour no issue, before I fired it up I double checked the valve clearances and they were perfectly at .003" which is in the middle of the spec range.

Checked out and repaired an older Echo backpack blower dropped off yesterday for a no start. It was severely flooded. Cleared the cylinder, installed a new plug (the brand new E3 plug was junk) and after a minute of pulling it started. Adjusted carb slightly to factory idle and top rpm. Ran for half an hour at full tilt no issue.

Had 2 dropped off for get running/service.

Had a cold beer.

Video of the generator under load:

Parts ordered for the 011's, replaced the fuel lines, starter rope, and general adjustments on a Wildthing, meanwhile someone drops off a Mini Mac with a bad oil leak. I also replaced the fuel line on a Craftsman hedge trimmer and now I am wondering if I will ever get to work on my own stuff again.

There are 4 797's in the attic that just continue to be neglected.

I may have seen it before … also on a 460 … I believe they tried to keep running it with the chain brake on. Had to replace the drum and some of the clutch shoes. Luckily I had a blown up OEM clutch with some good shoes that I stole.

Oil pump drive spring protector plate rubbed the clutch springs raw, they let go, and the shoes grenaded outta there.

Seen it a bunch of times on very well used saws

You are correct sir, replaced the whole setup for him, should be good to for a good while again, least it was cheaper then a new top end.

This morning, not a GTG event but it could be. The lumberyard in town makes surveying stakes from these units of 2x3's and their regular sawyer was gone today so they asked me to run their saw and see what I thought.

It takes 2-3 minutes and about 1/3 of a tank of fuel to cut through one unit.

They don't clean the air filter themselves.

It is on my bench now, I am looking for a carburetor kit as this saw does not seem to run just as it should.

Chain is 176 drivers, takes a while to file it sharp again.

That airfilter is a sure sign of a less than sharp chain IMHO...
