Back to grinding blades, this one belongs to @ranchdadmike . I think I'm gonna have to push my timeline back a few weeks. I've gotten a few extra orders, but many because of materials being backordered, took me a couple weeks to get some metal in,so that put me behind.

I've got a new Mall chainsaw bar right out of 1959 I could send you - it might make some dandy knives. The carbon content might be too high though.

My cousin used to make custom knives and machetes out of old bars. I gave him some old Cannon bars from the 70's that he made some cool machetes out of.

050 for disassembly and inspection. Bar/chain and clutch/oil pump drive off to allow oil pump removal to see what style of rubber ring I needed for the pump. Tipped over in the drain pan to let the "bar oil" drain. Looked and smelled like gear oil. Sprocket could probably be replaced but it won't see much cutting time so I'm ok with it. Setup .404 7 tooth. Ordered parts.

Test ran the Echo PB500H and it ran excellent, compared my 8010 to the 500 as well as a Homelite and the 8010 makes them look like toys!

I loved my 8010 when I had it, but I sold it. My 450 is perfect for my use and the 8010 was way overkill

Sure, I could always try it out. Had a guy a few years ago that was supposed to send me some to try out,but I never received any of them. I really don't remember if it was on here or another site. I've got an old 24" sawmill blade to cut up and do some with, but that's something else that keeps getting put I the back burner.

Whats wrong with it?
The super awesome design fault of the crankcase melting near the oil pickup... which fried the seals. Crankcase is junk. Saw isn’t even worth a set of cases or my time and labor I would charge. I been through this before with a 455 rancher and it just isn’t worth it $ wise fixing these types of saws when they have complete failures.

What’s on my bench? Another clamshell homeowner piece of chit.... destined for the trash/parts pile. LolView attachment 260097
I was gonna say dont pitch it yet. Thats a nice looking saw still. I might have a few of those cases laying around too if Dan cant hook ya up. Or ill pay shipping on the rest of it:D
Them lil ms210-50 saws make nice saws for friends that wanna borrow your good saws.

My thoughts exactly! Got one on the shelf but can't find the front of the muffler! Hate when I lose a part!

Lol! Yes that is one Stihl bonus and flaw. Easy to mod the muffler and easy to lose the muffler half. Ive done i think 3 of these, 1 for me and 2 for friends. They r nice lil saws for what they r. Aint gonna lie i grab mine more than one would think. *s-wordtty scenario/ situation, hmmm $50 builder or $800 ported saw.......image.jpg

Seen a lot of these saws ran with the chain brake on. It usually fries the side of the crank case where the clutch/oiler gear is. Its true the design is not great (even for me a Stihl_head).

I appreciate the offers guys, but the saw is already back with the owner. Not worth my time or the money I would charge him to fix this type of repair.

1941 Evinrude Sportsman 2 hp, going to get her going again. Need to get spark back which should hopefully just be cleaning and adjusting the points and going through the fuel system.

I try to avoid working on them unless it's just a simple service/carb job.
