Briggs fired right up and ran sweet.
Repaced the carb, fuel filter and spark plug on the Echo blower. Fired right up and ran sweet as well. Want to use the blower tomorrow after trimming and mowing to make sure it's right.

:eeeeek:

That’s gotta be one of the rarest race saws out there!! Looks to be in great shape too. I think only a couple of those cylinders were made.

I missed a prototype one of those by about 15 minutes at a long time Timbersports competitor's home in SW Washington years ago. He was selling off all the toys.

He had a big bikesaw too that he let go for $1,200 but I didn't see what motor it was.

So what is it?

Chauncey Varney 3120 hotsaw head.

I was wondering if anyone would recognize that....They are rare.....It's a fully cast....Reed valve...7 port cly....Truly a work of art

Varney made some pretty trick stuff back in the day, and word on the street was that the 3120 was his platform of choice. The prototype I missed was pretty rough - an early casting, but would
have cleaned up into a workable unit.

What crank/rod set-up are you using?

Spent a lot putting this one back together. It was missing the recoil, shroud and air filter cover. Cylinder was not salvageable so I put a new top end on it and new plastics $$. Seems like the 660’s have been fetching damn good money on eBay. I put a stupid number on it and will let it ride for a little while. We’ll see.....

There's a lot of guys out there right now that do not like the 661 - too flimsy and the M-tronic hasn't been entirely reliable. My one good buddy won't even touch them. He's still cutting with 460/660s.

This one is real nice...I picked it up it was stock stroke and bore...It currently has a 46mm crank in it gonna try that after I make a new pipe for it...Might bore it to 62mm after....It basically looks like a dirt bike cylinder on the inside

Talked to a tree guy a few weeks ago. He wanted to buy a big saw. He had the 661 out on the job. He said it was very unreliable. He said he would not buy another...back to the older saws.

It’s going to be an animal that’s for sure. Watching the one or two vids out there of these saws they were runners!
