Poor old thing’s been rode hard. E1E1D8EE-935A-4ACB-AF26-078A24BF85F6.jpegSolo 626. Lots of good stuff in there. There’s a great set of guide plates that will fit my “other” Twin. Been sharing a set up to now. 73041413-FDDB-4610-A89D-E9BE42CF2753.jpeg
Look at the emergency field repair for having your trigger pin fall out. Bet you can guess what it is.

I suppose it beats having to change the starter rope, ever. Believe it or knot, it has some parts on it that this one below can use.

Did some organizing in the shop, installed the new carb and fuel tank on this Champion generator, need to get bolts and washers tomorrow afternoon (they are m6x1.0), installed a new handle and latch on the kitchen storm door and played with my new DeWalt 20 volt brushless drill and impact driver.

Video of what I'm working on now :

Most ones I've seen like that I take a wire wheel or something appropriate and remove it.
Others may have a different idea.

That's what I do - I just get rid of all of it if I'm not having the cases re-powdered and it's already flaking off.

I'm working on a 026, the paint is peeling up in the crank case. How bad would it be for the paint to come loose in the engine?

I've used aircraft stripper with success. It's basically just methalene chloride (prob not spelled correctly) works great but don't skimp on the protective gear. Usually reseal the inside with good urethane enamel or epoxy paint. But probably not necessary.

They outlawed the methylene chloride stuff late last year. Too many goons huffing it I guess. The new stuff works but it's not nearly as fast.

 Son of a b

That sucks.

Steven

Yeah, if you've got any of the old stuff use it sparingly. You'll notice all the new cans say "non-methylene chloride formula". The fumes are just as bad, but it doesn't sting if you get it on your skin. But its so much slower. Hours or days vs minutes.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to look around and see if I can hunt up some old stock.

They outlawed the good carb dip too a few years ago, the stuff that would burn away all of the hair inside your nose. The new stuff just doesn't do the same job. The government is saving us from ourselves.

Yeah, I used to use the stuff in the metal barrel with the air regulated agitator....
It would get changed out every other week
If you left carbs in there too long they would erode away.
Co-worker left a bank of 4 in there over a weekend.... On Tuesday there was only about 2 3/4 left.
Ahhh, the good old days. [emoji846]

Yeah I remember the old carb dip. I have a few cans of the new stuff. It doesn't work well. Thank goodness the government was there or I'd still be cleaning carburetors and stripping paint efficiently.
