WT22B if I remember correctly. Didn't even touch it today. haha
Just a thought....Check out the choke flap when running full power... That "4 stroking hard" sound i had on full throttle once was the flap fluttering in the air flow regardless of setting the carb up. The wt-might be FUBAR anyhow of corse. Im changing a Tillitson HU on a 024 as im getting no where with it ...I believe the early carbs used can have a bit of a rep on the idle side.

compression look promising...started her up today and it ran fine, heathed handle also worked. squish is 0,018" without gasket.

Mahle 45ZN15 jug, HDA 87 carb, new bearings, seals and meteor slug. All in all I'm around 150-160$.

Good idea, I never thought of checking the choke flap. It's a brand new air filter, but there's no saying that couldn't be an issue.

Thats some good compression for 262. Makes you appreciate decomp if it has one. Nice build for nice price.

thanks Dave :)
I removed decomp valve, I consider to get a deeper plug, I think I leave a tab compression there.
The only saw I have that I wish had decomp valve is my 266, I only manage to pull it to 190 psi but it more felt like 250+ in my arms lol

Been keeping a eye on the mail for the first after market carb iv bought to get here for this 024 av to see if the upgrade to a WT 194-1 from a Tillotson HU 54f helps with the idle stability and low end tuning. Yup !! it has and im also impressed with the build of the carb so iv ordered another for stock and to act as a "Known Working Carb" to isolate issues with these little critters in the future.

028 avs has had new clutch springs on its way to being prepared for sale ...like the polished Stihl bar with embossed logo it has. Getting the long clutch needle roller bearings is really difficult over here ...plenty in the US but you can guess the postage is a Big Gulp . looking into using 2 individual cages to make up the length of the long single one.

Thats a sweet looking 42 special. I am partial to the 242 42 series
Little peach that one Dave..very original . They are harder to find now ...not had a 242 in since last year. Major prob with the 42-242 is to get clutch drums ,as many have this end on the drive.Screen Shot 2016-06-11 at 09.29.37.png

It's the same in Norway, seems 2xx serie is close to die out, you can see how it has changed on ebay also
Doesnt Oregon make those clutch drum? And wasnt there another type in the last years?

Its the Oregon power mate drum I look for Tor..(pt ,no...40068 ). The issue is if you have a worm drive on the crank like a 262 or have the plastic worm drive that is driven from the clutch like in the pics . The sort that is driven by the plastic i struggle to find, the other is less rare.

it's the old style clutch drum you search for?
I am a bit confused since I can't see the whole picture.

Look at the end of the part that the rim sprocket slides over to see the difference of how drive is taken to the oil pump.Screen Shot 2016-06-11 at 12.09.44.png Screen Shot 2016-06-11 at 12.08.49.png

Even the 262 had both designs but both are anle to be found and best to convert to the plastic gear. Wish they made a conversion avaiable for these little 242 42 saws. They are great and unfortunately it seems the parts pool is all but dried up.
