My experience with my 5100s is that, unless I've ran it dry to store it, 1 pull on choke is it. Any more and you'll flood it, even if you don't hear the pop. Sometimes it even sputters and starts on the first cold pull.
Thanks for the info, I'll try that next time when it's back together. Muffler needs to be "de-kittied" first.

That muffler weighs more than a brick. I hate "child proof" mufflers. Pain in the arse to break into

They suck, but if you heat it up with a propane torch you can pry it open with an assortment of screwdrivers and side cutters.

Yep there still intact someone put a new piston and rings and wrist pin barring in it and I'm guessing they didn't flush the case so now I'm the one gets to fix someone else's Bobo.
ive seen the little locking tabs on the air filter covers break off and get sucked in.

If they're anything like the 3000's, it's no easy task.
Eh, I just pulled the entire engine/alternator out and am doing it on the bench. The unit is only 135 hours or so and I am keeping it for myself so I am going completely through it and cleaning everything. I found out running them on propane kills the exhaust valve guide and seat. Not going to be a problem for me as I run them on gas. CJ

Well I did it in the wrong order LOL.
Un-crimped it then used the torch to burn off all the carbon build up.

Not sure what to do now....

I went back and looked at pics closer, I see now that there are several! At first glance it looks like a bunch of dents from the same object. Was there anything, or more of them, in the muffler?

No muffler is empty my guess is that someone did a quick rebuild and didn't flush the case out or they didn't like there job and tost them down the carb luckily bottom end is fine all the damage is the piston and the cylinder.
