Hopefully parts show up today.

I have gotten absolutley hosed on shipping parts out. A box of Stihl 009 parts I shipped out apparently leaked a little bar oil and stained the corner of the box. It sat in the PO for a week waiting for a ‘HazMat certified contractor’ to return it to sender. I had to go pick it up. Repackaged and shipped again and now its nowhere to be found.

How much for “shop supplies “ can I charge? Saw needs a full rebuild. Some people have no shame when they drop their equipment off. I don’t think the picture really shows how dirty the saw is......View attachment 163138
I'd charge an hour at least. Cleaning them is the worst part of the whole deal.

254's. start of two projects, may or may not finish them this year.

Project 1.
Mahle year 01 jug, this is the combustion chamber most of those 254's had, 0,012" head gasket gave me 0,011" in squish, sanded the band and final squish is 0,021":

Project 2.
KS from 86, no head gasket, squish ruffly 0,007-10", after some sanding I ended up with 0,021" in final squish:

Those old non air injection top end, there are some fins we need to trim (jug from 91):

None of those old jugs had heat shield, to use a heat shield we gotta trim the fins in front also:

In all honesty, do you feel the work to add a heat shield is worthwhile? Does the heat shield actually do all that much?

both yes and no.
As long a 254 can breath it doesnt mather if she has heat shield or not, but for those who run them stock with a european muffler I think the shield do mather. Those european mufflers doesnt breath more then a 242 do.

In this case where I have to trim the fins due the air injection system I'll trim the front fins as well.
