What's For Supper?

Had to hit the Walmart Marketplace grocery store for a couple of things early last week...they were loaded with meats. Went ahead and re-upped on family packs of center cut chops, pork steaks, baby back ribs, family packs of thighs, wings, and ground chuck.

Haven’t had to go back so I’m sure the scenery has changed and things are prob hit and miss now, even if you catch ‘em shortly after re-stocking.

None here!!

I had to do an investigation, south of St. Louis earlier today, and had the opportunity to stop at two Sam's club stores.
The meat cases weren't packed but they had some of pretty much everything. One store was out of pork butts but the other had some. There was a limit of three on any item but you could have easily filled a cart to overflowing and not exceeded any limits.
I picked up some Pork tenderloins, baby back ribs and 10 lbs of bacon.
Our local grocery stores, both of them, have most types of meat on a regular basis, but have limits as well.
I don't understand why you all are experiencing such severe shortages, while most other regions have an adequate supply.

As stated, I do not know what a sam is, but I do know that the food lion does not have any Boston butts. As they are over 15 miles from me. When I call them to get Boston butts they will not talk to me. As I need about 60 lbs. of sausage now.

Sam's is the same type of store as Costco. A large warehouse store that sells everything in large quantities.
You might have to travel to a more densely populated area and hit some of the larger stores, to find what you need.

Sams is part of the Walmart conglomerate.
As already stated, like a Costco. 60 lbs of sausage is a bit of work! We normally do 20-25 lbs at a time. Keeps it fresh. We share some with the family, but consume most ourselves. Had luck with pork butts at local Ingles. Wife is going to smaller chain for fat. Hard to find at larger chain stores. Dont know if they sell out quicker, or if they use for other things. Last time we stocked up on meat we found it at the smaller chain store. Chicken is really scarce here.
May get worse. Heard the Smithfield plant in SD shut down this week.

Yes Steve, Mama said there is a Costco in F-burg, many miles from me. I will be calling them tomorrow about pork butts. can't even get chicken here now!!

Damn that looks good! Would love some Hollandaise sauce on the Broccoli! As you know that I love my Hollandaise sauce.

No pics - didn't last that long. Bear loin and venison loin, cooked pot roast style in a bed of onions and carrots. Side of green beans.

It would be nice if I got to eat like that every night, but reality is...........I don't.
More nights than not, it's something much less enjoyable.
Those meals certainly makes the good food nights, that much better.

Pork cutlet, coated in some stuff and baked. Au Gratin Potatos and steamed Cauliflower.

Trying some flanken style beef short ribs.
Havent messed with these before. Any tips?
Trying to go low and slow.
Used Loot n Booty everything seasoning rubbed on the biggest two.
Small ones have a concoction. Little light Brown sugar, salt, pepper, onion, garlic powder, and paprika.
Probably eat em even if theyre bad. Doing some taters and onions with a little fresh garlic and salt and pepper as a side. Just sliced and cooked on the grill in a foil pan.

Well they look ok. Shoulda let the fire cool off a bit more. Probably way overcooked. On the finest China of course.
Gonna give am a shot after they rest for a minute or two.

i dont like short ribs. but i dont like pig feet either. or raccoon.but help me like em. bbq them they ok but .i am proly being a guy that likes steaks or the more popular types of meat. short ribs for me are in beef stew .

Werent bad. I did overcook em a bit. Needs a better rub or marinade.
