I am glad they are doing good, wins feel good and of course losses sting. I just hope folks try to remember at that age the primary focus should be on building interest, education, and having fun along the way.
It is a different sport but the same principles apply to little league baseball. When I was a kid T-Ball began at the end of your 1st grade year and every kid hit from the T. Now it begins at age 4 when kiddos are in Pre-Kindergarten. The rules are a bit subjective but in many cases the coach throws three to five pitches to the kid. If they miss then they hit from the T. Some coaches will not pitch and just have their kids hit from the T. In most cases you play for outs and runs but score is not officially kept. You bat through the order each inning no matter if every kid is out. The goal is to get through 3 innings and every kid has 3 at-bats.
I will never forget when our youngest son was playing. We had 4 community grade schools that made up the school district. Each grade school had at least one T-Ball team and most had two. Our grade school had two teams. Most of the games were against teams in our district but a few were not. It was our son's team's final game of the season. It was a home game and they were playing a team from a neighboring district. Both our teams were there because after the game we were having a cookout. I was "coaching" 1st base which of course was right in front of the visitor dugout. One of their coaches asked me what our record was. I turned around and told him I had no idea as we do not keep score. He got snotty and said that was stupid. He then asked how we would seed our tournament. I turned back around and said "Sir this is our final game of the season and when it is over both our teams are going to walk across the gravel road and have a cookout. We have plenty of food and refreshments and we would love to have you and your team join us. At this age kids enjoy roasting a wiener as much as being a winner"
