It will take a very stout 620 to "feel" stronger than a muff modded 400.

Normal ported 620 will be around 6.5hp +/- and has a smooth heavy chassis.

Muff mod 400 is around the same 6.5hp with all sorts of speed/snap. It is going to take a good chunk of extra power from a similar size/weight saw to see a difference or feel any "wow" factor.

I know a lot of guys that are tree rats that actually don't like ported saws, They HATE how loud they are.

I like my ported saws but can't stand running one now without ear muffs from the louder exhaust tone. My ears ring 24/7 now from the past not wearing ear muffs with these loud saws.

If someone wants more power but a quiet saw it can be done. Just don’t expect the 40% gains we sometimes get.

1) Read @Duane(Pa) and @huskihl 's posts. Real world, honest info.
2) My experience with several different builders' "woods port" of Stihl pro saws is in line with your expectations, i.e. 50 cc cuts like 60cc, etc. However, as above, different saws have different gains to be had. Best to discuss expectations before rather than after porting.

Rich yuppie neighborhoods aren't ported saw fans.
As a firewood hack, it brings me great joy to share unfettered 2-stroke music with the city folk. If I were running a business, then I would probably care more about pissing people off.

I'm gonna have to test the theory of ported 50cc cuts like 60cc.

Funny how they'll walk around the corner of their house and stare at you with a sour puss face with their hands on their hips.

Had a lady one time come over from 5 houses down upset about the loud saws. She was chewing out one of my employees about all the loud noise. I seen her come over but I was way up in the tree couldn't hear her going on. I thought she just wanted an estimate. He just laughed at her. I told him he should have started a saw and pissed revved it at her lol.

No re-starts in weird positions might be a blessing too..

Yes definitely. I'm mainly trimming palm trees now since we moved states and that is another plus especially restarts on a ladder. Probably catch greif over using a ladder but on some makes it very quick work.
