What oil is best? and what ratio?

Just use Amsoil Dominator.

That is surprising given the reputation. Are synthetic oils better? I've only used the B&S little bottle with the measuring cup built in, boat 2t oil, and Maxima Super M. Is the only way to see how well they work to take apart the engine? I get that this thread has covered all of that, but it is also nearly 900 pages long.

I think 927 is meant for engines that can be rebuilt constantly. Ive only run a few gallon of 927 mix. Good oil for protection but not so clean compare to other synthetic stuff.

I ran 927 in my race 250r ATV for year's ,never a problem , probably one of the best out there for 2 stroke bikes.

Saw's run too hot is my theory. And they are 2 stroke. I've seen RC glow engines get transfer ports plugged up with gum, and they run castor.

I had trouble with klotz benol on a cold day clearing a hedgerow. Enough to make the day miserable.

There is just no need for a castor or castor blend oil in a saw.
927 and super techniplate do work ok in bikes that don't have power valve cylinders, but even then only when the operating conditions merit their use. IE dune riding, super moto, etc.

Haha me too ...... I've been using Mobil 2T for more than a decade and see no reason to change

927 mix I ran was 32:1. Maybe I tune it a bit rich, but seems to have a bit of gum ozzing out of exhaust. After some lots of big cuts no gumany more. But I do feel caster is not good for saw.
