What oil is best? and what ratio?

All about what you’re used to. I often cut out in my test videos because it’s hard to cut straight when I swap between different makes. Lol. They all handle differently

motul 800 off road what ratio? 2 %or 2.5 % stock 565 and 55

2.5% is 40:1 I believe. And that seems to be preferred.

I’m looking into Tru-Blu more they have 2 fully synthetic oils so will check out pricing and do some testing

So what are your thoughts on the trublu/jakmax oil?

I ran out of blue oil so I am using up the Stihl oil I have ,no casualties yet after 3 gallons.

I don't think any oil will cause a catastrophic failure.

Only oil I see ruin a saw was Stihl Ultra by carbon scoring the piston and seizing the rings.
Just plain old nasty amounts of crud buildup.
Kind of like trying to burn green logs in the wood stove.

That’s what I’ve seen. It burns ok with some fuels, but it’s awfully dirty with others.

Oh boy. I must have been lucky. Ran Ultra with 91 Eth free for Tens of thousands of board feet of Hemlock, a couple of falling jobs, and a bunch of cords of firewood.
Some of the firewood duties were with a 32" bar buried and quite a bit of noodling.

I can try to find some pics. If I remember right, the 441 cylinder only had a little darkening on either side of the rings.

Running Schaeffer's full synthetic 9000 2 stroke oil now at approx. 42:1 with non-eth fuel.

Probably...
Around 20 grapple truck loads not including pulpwood. At 3-5 thousand board feet per load, that would be a few hundred logs just in Hemlock.
Another couple hundred in falling and bucking, and a few others for firewood.
Sold that 441 to a friend and he's been running it that last couple of years.

Just last year I saw three string trimmers suffer a catastrophic failure from carbon buildup, and two more that were close. All five trimmers had a diet of Ultra…given the nature of trimmers not typically being held WOT all the time makes me wonder if ultra requires more heat to burn enough to not leave crud behind.
