There was a great writeup with top oils and tear downs with a large RC BOAT motor. BelRay results were fantastic.

It robbed power and was hard to tune. It protected good but I switched back when I had to drill carb jets.

I think Huskihl said original made a frickin mess in his experience. Many hated the smell. Super sweet and sickening. Maybe the change was to lessen the stank and reduce the spooge. Appears more esters are not always better. Also appears full synthetic isn't alway better either. At least in a 2 stroke.
Wasn’t really a mess. Just bloody murder everywhere inside. It was doing its job.

As far as I know, the old Red Armor was said to be better by one of the past gurus on here, and he also said the chemical makeup of the new RA made it similar to other ope oils, and therefore over priced. It was pure speculation, and doesn’t appear to be true after a few of your tests

Maybe Kevin said what I was thinking. Thank you Kevin.
I remember reading on here for a bit that there was a difference in the old and new RA. But maybe I'm wrong? I was just relaying what the discussion was on here.

@Keith Gandy
The orginal formula was Ester based and the new not so the best I remember Ben and I both had seen in the SDS

@Keith Gandy tell me if old red armor is better..
I really hadn't used the new RA Ryan but the new formula seems to be performing exactly like I saw in the equipment running original. I know the first batch of the new formula deleted the esters but eggshooters post of the current msds appears to have added it back

I went straight to echousa.com to look for the MSDS. It says Final in red on the documents in more than one place. Dated March of 2017.
Looks to be the same concoction as the original formula. I know u could buy RA by the gallon and a case of 4 a considerable amount less than single convenience sized bottles

Esters are very stable at extremely high temperatures and are used almost exclusively in jet engines.

Superior benefits of organic ester are:
Natural Affinity to stay on metal surfaces providing a thin protective film to eliminate dry start-up engine wear which means easier morning starts and smoother engine operations.

Very High Viscosity Index indicate a low viscosity change. By employing Ester as the base for synthetic oil, it changes the conventional concept of synthetic oil. Ester are polar molecules that have the ability to electro-chemically bond with metals, so as to maintain a continuous lubricant film at high or low temperature (the element found in oil additive or as aditive in engine oil). This in turn provided a better resistance to thinning at high temperatures and thickening at low temperature.

Outstanding Film Strength so it takes a lot longer for the oil to drain completely off the bearings and into your oil sump. This prolongs engine life and increase engine efficiency.

What I'll try to find out is if that line 4 on the new sheet is a fancy term for ester. Or someone with a chemical engineering background can shine a light as to weather this......

Phenol, (dimethylamino)methyl-, (polymer)

is an ester base.
Hope it is myself. Substitution of higher dollar esters for less expensive POAs are the reason companies cut them out of the ingredients list
