I talked to an Amsoil Tech b4 buying the Dominator because of what I've read about it not having rust inhibitor. Many think it does not because of the outboard motor disclaimer on the Amsoil site. It does in fact have a full additive package including rust inhibitor. Maybe not as much as some oils he said, but still a full additive package. The outboard deal has nothing to do with rust. It has to do with running non TCW3 oil in them which can cause buildup from the low temps not burning off the detergents. That's what he told me anyway. Remember, fogging oil was around long b4 full synthetic oil was the norm. Stuff will rust under the wrong circumstances regardless of oil. And, if it matters, Randy, aka Mastermind runs it and Yamalube. Whichever he can find at the time. He recommended them both to me.
Thanks for the info and all your testing. I emailed Amsoil and asked them about it but never got a response.

Rust test underway. Unheated garage. Going to snow this weekend. Was 70 a couple days ago. Polished this hot rolled steel on my wire wheel. Dominator full synthetic, Blue Marble full mineral oil. Will reside here until..... something happens? I've never seen rust in any engine that gets run even seasonally, but that's my area. I carry a Glock every day. Slide never rusts without lube. Guys I know in Georgia, their Glocks rust in days on their person. Where you live drastically effects this.

Dominator is really good oil but don’t let it sit for a while or you’ll get rust. I’ve never seen it personally but know some who have in dirt bikes. It says not to use it in boats3ECB8DA2-08E4-48AF-B2E8-574EE781D7F8.jpeg

If a saw is kept out of the weather in a shop/garage I'm sure it's ok.

Call them. Has nothing to do with water and rust. It's about engines meant to run TCW3 oil won't burn off the ash based detergents because they don't run hot enough. Build up can occur. Thats why you need to tear them down. Sleds would do the same thing if rust was the reason. They operate in snow. Its water. It gets everywhere and melts. No warning on the bottle for sleds. Its all about the TCW3 detergent requirments that Dominator, or any non TCW3 oil does not contain.
Probably....i never personally saw it myself and never had a problem. The formula could’ve changed since then as well, its been a quite a while.
