I don't know what basestock VP Syn uses but I put it in my freezer for 3 days. When I pulled it out of there I measured the temperature at 6.3°F. The oil was very fluid and was not thickened much if at all. I tried the same with Woodlandpro Syn and it was frozen solid.
Now would the Woodland pro freeze solid if mixed in gas? like little oil cubes floating around . lol.

Yep. I'm going to find a good mineral oil or maybe get 2R since it's semi synthetic and try that. Oil works. The first ported saws I had I run stihl orange bottle and itasca oil in them and they survived.

Honestly Mike after running super M and 2R I really can not see anything wrong with semi synthetics.

Have to maybe give the nod to super M just by a little.

I can't wait to run some Mobil though a few saws.

Sent from my non internal combustion device.

I ran some more Saber through my 421 today. nothing blew up...

One wired thing it seemed to creep lean. started a bit fat at 13,100 and after 20-30 min of cutting had leaned all the way to the rev limiter 13,800.
I did have the winter heat window open but have never noticed a saw lean that much. FYI about 25 degrees F

It is a Dolmar but that is one reason I love having a tach hard wired on the saws.

It's not much above zero here in the mornings so I have to adjust a few times all morning as it warms up. But no complaints at least it warms up. lol. Been running red armor at 50:1 just to give it a try. Probably go back to saber when the red stuff is gone.

Yea that is ironic. The red armor can be found uptown for me but I've ran saber for so long that I have a hard time dropping it. The saber has to be ordered or drive a 100 miles to find so red armor would be a good sensible choice for me.

It goes from Miss. To wis.. syn oil is made from crude oil.
Don't cha kno.
Most "real" syn oil is made from natural gas in the case of PAO'S or acids and some sort of fat in the case of esters.
