FWIW Klotz R50 will not mix with gas when it's 5 degrees out. To get it to mix I had to bring the can in the house and have it come up to room temp.
Once mixed it doesn't have a problem dropping out of suspension.
You can definantly tell it's a thicker oil when pulling over a cold engine ran on it.

Holey cow Batman you must be tuned awfully rich...... I've run saber for years with no build up like that. But I do run them hard in wood and they dont idle long. The only thing I can see to cause test is a rich tune. I know your saw is limited but I'd bet its rich.

ran 2 gallons of H1R @ 40:1 in the 661. Saw ran fine. Plenty of oil. Runs very clean relative to others. Used 36" .404 for most of the cutting.

observation - when I've ran 40:1 of anything with less of a load (shorter bar or 3/8ths instead of 404) there was more oil on the exhaust side of piston. When I've ran .404 full comp and or long bar seems to be less oil. We've seen this before where engine temps were lower with short bar and higher with long bar.

Point I am trying to make is that more load on the saw you want heavier ratio. Which is no secret. I am just making a point of it because in general it seems that a heavier ratio is only talked about when milling. I think a heavier load (relative to the saw's ability) such as longer bar, more aggressive chain, longer cuts, harder wood etc are all reasons to richen up the ratio.

A lovely oil thread, lol.

I've been running the Stihl Ultra for years, stock and ported saws. I picked up a few of the 2gal mix packs, not sure how long they have been out but it was a great idea.
