:( Don't tell the junkman that
Yep. He needs a little excitement every now and then or he gets bored and starts the "which is better" threads. Barbie gets her titties flopping and ken starts getting jealous. Then shít snowballs out of control. Happens every time.

What stupid stuff am I doing repetitively? I like to think that by putting countless hours on a saw on one oil and not having any issues speaks for itself.

As far as knowledge goes you can study the different oils based on ingredients all you want. What works is most important. Write down the pros and con's of each oil, find the best on paper... Fine with me. I will be burning saw gas making money and not have any oil related failure.

When your done writing down your figurings shove that paper up your ass.... That's what you talk from anyway. Experience... Make a mental note of how that word is spelled.

Any oil doing its job should be kind of dirty after use. There's a lot of soot that gets into the oil. Only way to know what's in it is to have the oil analysis done. Detergent packs play a big part. Castrol enduronS was some great oil to clean a top end up to work on.

Amsoil makes a product to flush the crankcase. Maybe I'll try that and what the Motorcraft has left behind. When I say the Rotella looks horrible, I mean it looks spent, like the oil is no longer any good. I feel like the Motorcraft still had some life left in it. That being said the company truck is a 7.3 and my truck is a 6.0. The 6.0 is a cleaner burning engine so maybe that's a contributing factor. Hard to say not really knowing. "Knock on wood" I haven't dropped an injector since I went to Motorcraft. So there's that.

You guys need to invest in a bypass oil filtration system. The good ones are worth every penny.
I change my oil once a year (15k) and the oil looks like dark colored honey. No soot, just smooth feeling honey.

Well as much as we talk up the boutique brand oils I would have no worries putting the made by Castrol Stihl oil in any of my saws .
I have to pay for it now that I'm no longer with the company

View attachment 41414 View attachment 41415 Here is a pic of my stock 029 piston rin on regular Stihl orange bottle oil for over 20 years. Looks real good to me.
I'm sure there are other differences, but the fd oils are better at preventing that stuff. But for lubrication, it looks like it's working just fine. Until a ring decides to grab that carbon and smears things up
