I've been using benol 32:1 in my saws lately and I like it alot.
A person can slam any product they choose and run their equipment super pig rich to make their point seem valid.
The problem s with castor manifest themselves while running lean or under heavy load. Run it rich and under right load and you might not have issues in the short term.
Long term you will have deposit problems and castor does attract water. It also doesn't stay mixed in cool temps.

Maintenance is key. Any slight lean condition leaves no tolerance and you know the rest of the story.

I mixed 2 gallons of saber at 50:1 to run through my auto saws..they run better and leave a nice film of oil , i cant ask any more of them.

I did 40:1 and it was fine as well..and will probably continue to go that way..but its overkill..atleast with the oils ive tried.

It's good you're on top of it. There are many out there who aren't.

This should be the "bwalker chits on all brands that he doesn't use thread".
Only if you have limited reading comprehension.
I use a variety of oils that fit the intended application20160511_144808.jpg 20160511_144808.jpg 20160511_144808.jpg ..

I have a ton of 8 oz bottles now which works out for my 5 gallon can to make 40:1..but id still have no concerns at 50:1

But for my trimmer and blower next spring they will get 50:1 with saber..they run way better at that ratio.

Right there with you buddy! My trimmer doesn't run that well with my 36:1 H1R. Next mix will be RA @ 40:1 90 E free!

Its quite simple. ST is a blend of original techniplate 80% with 10% benol. Guys have remarked in this very thread that OT is the best thing since sliced bread. So ask yourself why is ST so nasty? And there are plenty of pics on this thread that show it is. Answer because it contains 10% castor oil. It would then stand to reason that straight castor oil is indeed even worse.
Now beyond the theory of what's going on I have actually ran ST and Benol. They both absolutely suck in a saw and that's just from a deposit standpoint. There are more than a few other downsides to castor that I have mentioned multiple times.
Why in the world do guys think that oils like 800, benol, etc are need in a very low output unstressed engine?

So Original would be your pick out of the Klotz lineup?

R50 at 32:1 still is excessive IMO lol.

Will mix up some original at 32:1 this weekend. Only ran it at 50:1 and it looked a tich dry....however Ben, residual is a heavily influenced factor from many things.

Ran Benol at 32:1 with the leaner coil on the 661 while running the maxflow and everything was decent looking. Castor does burn dirty I know but it is arguable that it does lubricate better than some synthetics.

There is a trade off with Benol and I understand this, I run synthetics this time of year due to weather lol

Will run original at 32:1 year round if I really like it.

Still will not be afraid of2r at 32:1 lol. K2 or Super M at that ratio have not cooked a saw yet either.

I broke in a 562 on2R and Super M. Saw never missed a beat or had any abnormal wear.

Sent from my non internal combustion device.

My stuff runs just fine on 32:l and echo powerblend I will continue to use it regardless of opinion i can buy the 5.2 oz for 2.10, 6.4 oz for 2.89, and the 12.8 oz bottle for 3.99.
Sure I can buy other brands but this one is the cheapest I can get directly through my dealer through my commercial account i could buy supertech at wal mart but i hate going there.

50:1 fans. Can you post some complete take downs? Please make sure to shut the saw down immediately after the last cut and then take down.

Lol.

I only take saws apart when there is something wrong with them...but i could take pictures of saws ran on *s-wordty dino oil with 87oct gas with who knows how much ethanol mixed with sawdust/snow and elephant nuts in the tank along with a choked up muffler that barely breathes that have clear cut hundreds of acres of logs with little maintenance..if any at all ?

Does that count ?

Ill keep makin 40 because i dont have to use my ratio rite now with the bottles i have and id rather have more oil for the rare moments i need a big saw with a big bar for long cuts...but to say 50 doesnt work is impossible for me to believe , the abuse ive seen these tools take is unreal and they keep workin..let alone for a polisher who runs a retarded sharp chain with a spotless air filter and ethanol free gas along with a good muffler mod to get some heat out , a saw is gonna last a LONG time at 50 with a quality synthetic oil and a mindful operator.

Here is what i wanna see done to convince me of a good ratio.

Make three cuts in a 22 in inch log with moderate pressure at 6 second intervals on a 78 degree day in may on 47:1

Then after those cuts i want you to count to 12 grab your nuts and take 6 steps backwards then approach the saw right foot forward.

After that procedure i want you to count to 57 and start to take the saw apart and take pictures of the residual oil and report back.
